btw - spoke to Rody Roem in France today online, asking about break in proceedures - the break in cycle is very different for this engine. here is what he said:

interesting process

It's thing like this that just go to show you, forget everything you think you learned from the Traxxas board. OQ and Homie Da Clown would have a poop fit and tell us all how dumb Rody is. When really Rody is a genius.

ahh 30%. Run stronger at lower temps. If it werent for the 2 dollar increase/gallon I would run it too.

I have to put in a good word for EBMods. He's been moding engines for years. He started with motorcycle engines and found his way to nitro. He now makes a living moding for racers.

Here is one of his ebay auctions:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3155327086&category=34062

$75 is cheap when it takes him 10 hours to do a full mod. Today, you've never heard of EBMods, but tomorrow that may not be the case. I've seen him grow from a few engines a week to well over a dozen a week. It won't be long and he'll have to raise the $75 price tag. Get in there while it's at the lower price. :)

anyone here have experience with modded engines such as Roem, Rody, Collari, Salvin, JP, ect.....

Curious as to whether the power diff is that great over a stock engine. the prices will kill ya!

ill pay the extra money if the price is worth it. any help would be appreciated.

I thought I'd share a different modder than the ones he monetioned. It's also an alternative to the high prices of the other ones.

you can buy whole engines from him to just like Rody and the others.

Have you tried his mods Rob? It's dirt cheap if he is good. One of the lhs is quite a bit more for thier quality job.

ill think i would pass on that. once i see his mills winning national events, maybe ill jump on board. but before i let anyone touch a brand new 300.00 engine - i better be damn sure he is gonna do it right, such as Rody Roem, Ron Paris, JP, Collari, ect

Not yet. I'm going to buy a new engine for next season. Before break-in, it has a date in Ed's shop though. I have total trust in him. He's no hack. He does a different mod job for on-road, off-road, nitro percent, etc, etc. He's taking seconds off Drag Racing times. You'd have to stand in his shop and look at all the engines waiting for mods. He knows his poop. The EBMods Picco .26 (which he doesn't advertise at all) has people on backorder waiting for it.

I remember a couple of months ago when he did his first Picco .26. The guy that got it was stoked and said he'd go broke buying tires. It must be something special cause just word of mouth from that guy has the EBMods Picco .26 orders are piling up. I can't buy a Picco .26 at my LHS because when they come in, there are all spoken for (EBMods).

When I first heard that Ed did engine mods, I too was skeptical. NA is right, when he starts winning races, that's when you'll hear of him. That's also when he wont be able to keep his head above the water and he'll have to jack the price up.

Anyway, I'll step off the EBMods promotion box. :D
