Mix my own fuel..

I have a great source of methanol, I can also find synthetic oil in car garage 2 cycle, all I need is nitro-methanol That I'm looking for. My question is will my car .15 engine will work without the nitro-methanol? I heared that nitro is only a boost for performance. is that right? I had broken in my car with 15% powamasta.

Yes, and no... Nitro does not burn by itself. The methonal burns hot enough to ignite the nitro, giving it boost. A fuel without the nitro-methane will run like crap, and will run really hot. These engines are made for fuel with nitro in it. My advise, go buy some pre-made. Leave the mixing to the fuel companys. :smoke:

I've heard of mixing your own fuel, my neighbor used to do the planes "back in the day". He's like 4x my age, but he knows alot about nitro.

I'll ask him and see what he says, because he mentioned it to me to save some $$$, but I never did it.

airplane fuel and ground Rc' fuel is totally different. But yeah like 21 said, Id just leave it to the Fuel companies. Btw who makes powermasta? I've never heard of it.

I'm using now 10% Nitro Fuel and the engine runs really cool when I lean from factory set HSN about one turn, cuz 2-3/4 turn from closed the engine will not start cuz is toooooo rich. I heared nitro will increase the heat of the engine, my user guide sugest me do not run over 15% .





Powermaster is a pink fuel thats unexpensive and use 18% oil

Higher Nitro content will actually run cooler.....I mix fuel all the time when I can't get 25% already made, I buy a 20% and 30% gallon and mix the 2 for 25%.....works great....add some MMO and your good to go

I have heard some of the old-timers talking about mixing their own fuel. I know that airplane fuel is different, but seems like you could find info on it somewhere. Did a couple of searches, but no luck. :shrug:
