I've got a tamiya midnight pumpkin that I love, and is a blast to drive around...but I've broken a lower shock mount on a front wheel. I've been reading that guys are installing t-maxx shocks on these trucks and I think it'd be an awesome upgrade, but I tried installing them tonight and the front shocks would have to be shortened a bit. 2 questions...

Is anyone here running maxx shocks on a midnight pumpkin or lunchbox? Sub-question: is anyone here running a midnight pumpkin or lunchbox at all? Lol

how does one go about shortening the shocks? I see something about using fuel line to shorten the travel the shock has...where do I do this? Do I rebuild the shock with the fuel line inside?

Thanks in advance guys...

Edit: wasn't sure where to put this, sorry if I threw it in the wrong section!

You could use zip-ties on your shock springs to "pull" it down a bit. I haven't done it, but I've heard a lot if talk about it.....;)

To shorten the shock using fuel tubing, you'll need to rebuild the shock and put a short piece of fuel tubing just under the piston inside the shock. The length of the tubing determines how much you shorten the shocks.

Thanks guys! I'll try the zip-tie idea first and see how many beers it takes to break something else!

Kick-ass! The zip-ties will work for now! I've only got one mounted up right now to test, but it looks like it'll be a good replacement...the stockers could definitely use an improvement!
