hey guys, gals, and llamas, i ordered a tekno 410.2 short course truck.
its a slider from @9x19 am super stoked, but I'm also not the most knowledgeable.
I've gotta order
tires/wheels : ordered pre mounted proline trenchers
motor/esc : hobbywing ezrun 2400kv with max10 esc
servo. : ordered nsdrc servo
Body: proline baja bug ?
Screenshot_20240823_130058_Gmail.jpg

its been recomended to me that i dont try to cut corners on this truck unlike a few others, I'm down
but I'm not rich so price points an issue lol, the motor esc combo i WANT is a little more than I'm paying for the slider itself,
that i dont REALLY mind, but I'm nervous about going overboard as well.
like with the typhon, i got that thing already upgraded to 6s, but the drivetrain wasn't upgraded so it just ate itself apart.
trying to avoid this with the sct.
it will PRIMARILY be for just bashing around with as i dont have access to any sort of track untill i dig out my own.
if anyone has any suggestions on electronics for this bad boy i would REALLY appreciate it

here are a few I'm considering id love some input,

https://www.asiatees.com/display?brand=Miscellaneous&model=All&id=214224&rc_pal=3736303730

I'm really leaning towards a scratch and dent tekkin motor but i dont know which kv rating is best for me,

part ofo me wants to just throw this 6s monster motor/esc i have on shelf in the tekking, but then I'm at same issue that i had with the typhon.
i dont want to go overboard, but i dont want to destroy my truck from the inside out either.
I'm stalking the F out of the sct forums and i see a few different options, but they tend to lean towards the racing aspect.

i have

Dyscalculia as a result of a car wreck i shouldnt have walked away from whys this in bold....

so motors end up being a struggle for me as its all just numbers lol, makes me feel like a dumb constantly asking the same questions people have asked a million times. but i can't retain the gd info long enough to use it grrrrrr.

i havent even gotten started looking for tires or wheels.. I'm used to crawlers with beadlocks, sct uses superglued wheel/tires right? i see you guys all tying your tires, to keep em from balooning right? the majority of sct i see in the builds tend to live on clay tracks, mines going to be rippiing thru grass more often than anything else. should i look for something specific in the way of tires? i see a lot with the pins and big knobby tires, I'm lost

heres whats available today from s&d section if itd under 100 i can probly sneak that order in today muahahahaaaaa

Take a look at these Proline wheels/tires: PRO119010

Link
bro i swear i had those in a cart and was really considering them, mostly because of the wheel hexes and them already being glued lol,

That’s what I would get. Plenty of power

I have the outdated max10 and a 3660 and it gets it. So this combo having 20 more amps and a slightly longer can should be great in the 2.0.
To answer @majin ’s question about what kv, what battery voltage will you use? I’m pretty sure the combo suggests recommended kv with battery voltage compatibility

That would be great. On 4000kv though I would only run it on 2s anyways. I know some people that run their scts on 4s and those are monsters.

My buddy has a 410.3 SCT with a 10bl120 SD pairs with a 3652 SD motor.

Kinda sad that they don't make 2 pole 550 size motors anymore. Anything that size is 4 pole.

Man that's why this is such a cool site
Looks like I'm gonna shoot for the 2400 kv motor esc as I'll be mainly running it on 3s
I had been looking at 1/8 scale stuff
That hobbywing is right on track with my wallet
Thanks so much
Sadly I'm like 40 bucks short on the digital keeping me from ordering it today lol

@majin Congrats on the new project! This is out of my area of expertice ( as most things are) but will be fun watching it come together. Really nice choice. :thumbs-up:

I thought you had mentioned a $250 budget for the esc motor?

You can get the mamba x combo for that here

https://www.ebay.com/itm/1336708252...BpMLkrrQWi&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

Also the hobby wing doesn’t have the program box and the castle supposedly gives you a coupon to get the link for theirs for free with the combo (not sure how necessary it is from the start though 🤷‍♂️)
the castle mamba combo was why i had set that as a limit, cause i was thinking id just go big and get that, but then I've had a few other less expensive options suggested so am on the fence but have a week to figure it out lol
its not ruled out as of yet tbh, i honestly do foolish things with the money i sell my soul for, so its still in the top 4 ideas, but if i can get something that is comparable for 100 less, i dont have the experience to even know the difference,

I sent you a story book of a PM.

This is essentially what I use in my 410.3, however I have the max10SCT. It’s a 120 esc and a 3200kv 3660 “SL G2” motor. I run it on 2s because 3s seemed to have some thermal issues. My temp protection is on the low side.

Now, for the new 2.0 judging by how it looks to be built, I have to vote for the combo that @WickedFog presented. That is a new gen combo with more amps, a bigger motor, it is Sensored and has the price to prove its twice as good.
For a combo that’s affordable and easy to make work that is it.
If you are willing to shop around you can find a motor and esc that will work with each other.

Forget the Castle set up. If you got the extra money it's great, but that 3200KV Hobbywing combo will work just as well. You'll want to pick up a programming box for the HW ESC though to make it easier to program. They don't cost much.

Honestly the biggest difference between the HW and the Castle system, is that the Castle system is going to have more/better programming options, but if all you're doing is bashing that won't really matter much anyway. If you have the extra money then go for the Castle set up, if you dont save yourself $50+ and get the 3200KV HW set up.

i feel like for me at this point its going to be the hobbywing, i see videos of the castle stuff, looks fantastic dont get me wrong, but I'm not REALLY a brand guy if that makes sense? like i idont care what my shoes are, i dont need nikes, or reebok, i just need something to cover my feet, if the hobbywing is gonna cover my feet anjd do it well, but the castle would do the same thing but be more like the nike so people will be impressed with my purchase? id rather save that little money and have something else,
i also have a hobbywing program card,
castle having more options wouild be very useful for a lot of youse guys, but I'm not even gonna understand half of em i feel like,
i dont need telemtry logging ( wtf does that even mean??) Data logging?? useless to me, so for ME the castle just seems like a showoff buy at this point,
i just wanna ricky bobby this thing against myself, no one to race with and no REASON to improve lap times with fine tuning.
think the HW is the route, unless i find something else that will go faster without eating my insides up

With proper gearing and tire diameter, the HW should do fine.

Yeah, just grab the HW combo. It will do just fine for ya. Youll be able to Ricky Bobby it all you want! :)

Those EZRun G2/G3 combos are stupid... stupid great that is! :p
I put one in Tekno's lighter weight SCT. I liked it so much; I bought one for the SCT410 2.0 ride, and one for another SCT410SL. The only drawback is the sensor cable for G3 motors. If wanting to use a non-G3 sensored motor, an adaptor is needed.

I was glad to see Hobbywing up the antae on their EZRun combos now being sensored. Going sensored on a basher ride may not seem important to some. Depending on one's bashing habits, that low speed control/feel is an added benefit. I could go either way (sensored vs. sensorless).
