Thats insane. One of the guys at my LHS lost his in a pond at a funfly lastyear. He took a dive.

I'm finding flying my mCP X BL much easier, because of and thanks to the SIM practice and my micro quads.

I'm very happy to have gotten into this RC hobby stuff. And looking forward to the more rewarding aspect of flying, once I finally get my 700E completed.

Definitely not really a kit for beginners like myself.
Oh well, bit off a huge chunk, but slowly it's getting digested...

Chas

I went a little too far in an extremely high speed banked turn about 6 feet off the ground. Came in contact with a small tree branch..The boom broke and the wires were tightly wound around the main shaft. One of the kbdd blades was also destroyed. I watched it ball up and cannonball into the ground

Yeah...

Is this one worthy?

How do they not snap blades off? The stress forces on those blades and blade grips has to be ridiculous. I can't believe they don't just snap right off with a lot of those maneuvers.

WOW!

Yep, I agree. That's why CP heli parts are so expensive. Good carbon blades for a larger heli are well over $100 just for the main blades. Each part undergoes rigorous R&D by team pilots as well as lab testing to ensure there are no failures. There's a video somewhere floating around of the G forces an RC heli pulls, it's nuts.

Carbon Fiber hidden strength

I don't think they would recomend this tye of use (abuse) of our main rotor blades, but if careful!

Ah, as you can see, these new CF rotor blades are extremely durable. Smile

I don't look forward to ever replacing parts on my TRex 700E from crashing,!
Let alone the main rotor blades, at those prices...

The problem with carbon blades is that they are very durable. And everything behind them (swash plate, linkages, etc) take the brunt of a crash rather than destroying a set of blades, main shaft and feathering shaft.

Bingo! This is what terrifies me about a blade strike with the revolutions I just put on my 450. The last minor strike I had just splintered the wood into a million pieces. I wouldn't have been so lucky with the carbon fibers. There is just a huge difference in how they fly though.

I think I'm going to move the flybar weights in and see if I can easily get a little more response.

Not something I want to find out...
Nearly every TRex 700E I see, going in to the turf, does need the carbon fiber blades replaced too...
It's a heavy beast at 12+ lbs. They often hit the ground very hard.

Yes, this thought, Helps me practice well.

My last 450 crash with carbons was about $80, vs about $25 with woods. BUT, woods are getting hard to find for the T Rex, they're trying to force you to go carbon. And after having a no name wood blade fail, I only run Align wooden blades.

But they look good...

I didn't know, Align even made wooden rotor blades.
Anyway, those are not of any consideration for a TRex 700E.
They wouldn't be able to stand up, to the demand of those forces...

Seems like wood always has tracking issues. Not that I'm overly experienced or anything. I remember there was a whole envelope of Chinese wood blades hen you sent me the SR.

Yep, that would be before I learned about them myself. :hehe: I tell ya the truth, if you buy quality wooden blades, and use one of these for setting your pitch and travel range, I have never once had to adjust tracking after my initial setup on a flybarless heli.

I'd like one, when I bought mine I was short on money just trying to get the thing in the air. I just bought an eflite cheapie gauge for the time being.

Definitely. Eventually I'll get one. Thinking about a T. rex. 250 or 450?

450 for sure, 250's are evil, finicky little SOB's and parts cost almost as much as the 450. I've been toying the the idea of a 500 class heli, but the cost of packs alone is deterring me.

Wish I could fly a 450 in my yard, but all I can do is hover. Best place I have is 30 minutes away at my uncles. Guess its not that bad.

IMHO, and just my opinion, a 250 is no less dangerous (due to the higher head speeds) and needs most of the room a 450 will for the average pilot. And I'm definitely average, possibly slightly below average. I mean, I do still ride the short bus. :D I'm at least 15 minutes from a flying area now myself for the bigger birds, the smaller stuff and quads I can fly in the front yard.

When I eventually Man up, and buy my smart charger and multiple battery's for my TRex 700E, I'll have to file for bankruptcy...

I'm looking at around $800 for them all, and still want to add HC to my Align model too.

Man this RC FLYING hobby is, or can be, very expensive if you let it, much?
Feeling like I got beat up and my wallet taken... eventually it makes sense...

Chas

I read about the space a 250 takes. You need to invest in a BL. I love mine to death. I'm pretty sure getting hit with it spooled up to 100% would not be good. Only difference is less mass and plastic blades. Stille slice ya good.
