Hey guys. I know this is Arrma page and I’ll prob get crap for asking this but I want to get an rc for my kid this Christmas, getting the Granite BLX 4x4 for him, and I want to buy one as well. I really like the Losi Tenacity MT. The white body grey wheels, the transmitter, I’ve briefly read that it has over heating issues and the plastic shock caps break off.

Firstly does anyone know where to find aluminum caps? The thing that scares me is the part availability for this truck. There isn’t much talk about these online either.

Will the shock caps from the buggy work for the MT?

Any info on this truck would be great. Thanks guys

Oh and I did watch the reviews on YouTube

No crap here, of course we have our Arrma bias here but when it comes down to it we're an RC fan site. The RC hobby is what everyone of us all have in common. ;)

Overheating can usually be resolved by changing just a few things. Such as gearing and/or adding fans, etc.
Plastic shock caps are notorious to pop-off on many manufacture shocks. A quick and easy fix would be to upgrade to aluminum shock caps (TLR5062).

Be sure to post pictures once you get your Losi! :D

Take the caps off and apply thread tape then put the caps back on. You won't have problems with them coming off after that.

Thanks for the reply. Ill definitely get some pictures woodie

Thread tape. as in Teflon tape? That sounds kind of odd thing to fix the problem. I'm debating on going with the aluminum caps, or just upgrading the shocks all together. Pro Line makes anice aftermarket set of shocks for the $125 range, plus wlll need shock fluid.

Teflon tape will tighten up the threads and it will make it much harder to pop off. It works.

Just FYI, not sure if you seen already or not, but Tower has the Tenacity MT on special for 12 days of Christmas sale:

yessir, I've been on tower hobbies, amainhobbies and ebay every day for the past few weeks. I've been back and forth on what to buy. Narrowed it down to the granite 4x4 blx for my kid, and I might buy one for myself also, or get the tenacity MT for myself

the lower price of the losi makes me want to go that route. my 5 year old will be fine just with a bone stock granite 4x4, but if I were to get one, I would probably replace the servo, all the bearings, and I've been adding up the cost and I think the losi would be cheaper in the end. Theres something about the tenacity I really like. I like them both. Hard decision

I find that once a plastic shock cap pops off it will never stay on again, even with Teflon tape, unless you super glue it. I along with numerous others have not had much if any luck with Teflon tape.

I say go for it, for $250 that is a great deal.

The only truck that I have ever had a problem with shock caps popping off is my Traxxas Slash. I put Teflon tape on it to help hold it on and to keep it sealed and never had an issue again. Leaking is a big issue with traxxas as is popping off. There are a lot of threads over at the traxxas site suggesting to use it but I don't see anyone saying it does not work. In my opinion thread tape should be put on anything that seals fluid at the threads. As an added benefit it will help keep the cap on tighter and help keep it from coming off. Here are a couple links to people who agree.

Try it and if it doesn't work for you then it costed almost nothing to try. IMO it should be on there anyway. It is obvious why super glue is not a good idea.

Oh not arguing just stating that I've not had much luck with it on my end, especially with my Stampede, no matter what I did the plastic caps never stayed on. My 1/18 Ruckus I ended up gluing the caps on that. Hot Racing makes aluminum ones for it, but it's hard to justify spending almost half the price of the truck on shocks. But like you said the Teflon tape is cheap, the last roll I bought was 99 cents.

Losi makes a performance kit for $99 that upgrades the turn buckles, chassis, shock towers, and shocks.

I believe that kit won’t fit the tenacity mt, I did look into the kit.

I missed out on the sale, and I decided just to get him the granite and I may go with the big rock. I’m researching the big rock to see how it compares and if it’ll run on 2s until I get a 3s battery

Still got MT’s in my LHS. https://webstore.eliminator-rc.com/losi-tenacity-mt-blue-rtr. 2 left I think. $ 349 cad. Having blast snow bashing with mine!
