LC Racing EMB 1H compared to MTH questions

I purchased one of these SCY’s….. I am not impressed. Cheap cast metal, 2in1 brushless ESC, brushless motor that gets pretty hot, a tiny battery compartment, horrible shocks, orange loctite used on some screws in metal but not all, crappy tires, horrible radio system. Gear mesh at the pinion and spur is too tight. The good news is, all of these issues can be fixed, minus the gear mesh not being adjustable.
That’s my real life review. @Glitch don’t be pushing your SCY stuff anymore, they are not that good.
Hypergo all day long for the price. Better build quality, even in the brushed version.
stock hyper go doesn’t even bottom out in the front LOL it is designed so badly!
They all have strengths and weaknesses but the SCYs are easier to fix

None of them are amazing you get what you pay for. The SCY is a better platform to build and tinker with. Less screws. Yes they are a lot better with a hobbywing 16bl30 or better ESC and they need oil shocks, but since they are cheaper than MJX the difference in price pays for those things I can literally buy these SCYs for $60 during choice day

Haven’t noticed that. To me it looks like a reverse engineered 1/16 Traxxas.
I got my SCY for $80 so I suppose it ain’t too bad considering all the flaws can be worked out.

I feel like when you buy a budget rc, you're going to end up with flaws.
My DeeRC is pretty much done.
I have to take my own advice here.
Its not a good design, cheap materials have left me drawing a line. No more $ invested in that car.
I MIGHT try to put it back together as a "gently use on 2s" truck but its a loss for what I want it for.
I feel like the LC Racing, by descriptions, doesn't really fall into the "cheap r/c" class any more. Its been described as "the car that other companies steal designs from".
Its "the good one".

Agree I am almost 100% over the cheap minis and want more expensive ones haha

I bought this SCY so my other son can drive something because his brother won’t let him drive his hypergo when he isn’t around (sounds like me!), and I am not letting either one of them abuse my LCRacing car!
These cheap little cars are just so hard to work on, the screws are just terrible. I have to admit, the SCY is a squirrelly fun car to drive.
@Glitch, for the shocks you can use a set of 1/14 hypergo shocks. The rears are long the fronts are shorter. I just used the longer ones. LC Racing springs fit just fine.
I would like to know where the SCY design came from, so I could possibly build it with better parts.

Thats were my mind went with the DeeRC...
We can rebuild him... stronger, faster... 🤣🤣🤣

Next thing you know... 6 million dollar R/C...
I have some DeeRC hop ups you can buy cheap! 😉

I think SCY is an improved hosim, but the hosim is worse quality

Either way, I can't see myself buying another car like this, anytime soon that is.
Yeah I understand it’s not your jam!
After all, you’re named after one of the highest quality rcs you can buy which I haven’t even seen in real life and I am “glitch.” 🤣

The issue with basically any of the small scale rcs is they are all built so cheap. Even the Arrma Grom is rather mediocre when it comes to it's quality which doesn't surprise me since it is made by one of the companies that makes some of the other small scale rcs, either HBX or MJX or something I can't even remember anymore.

Ha! Yes but both my teknos I purchased as used! They are a pretty penny brand new.
I opted for the @TeknoJ because it’s what I use over on the Tekno forum. On the crawler forum I was @J’sCrawler but can no longer log in.
My most expensive car to date would be my 1/5th 30degree truck.

Finally got to run the MJX 14210 in its intended venue (dirt road and dirt rv parking area - sandy with some gravel) and it’s twitchy, but fun. Interestingly I found it more controllable with the paddle tires i thought I’d never use. The biggest detriment i see to the handling and controllability is that the suspension is much too stiff.

The MERV suspension is way more supple and kept the wheels on the ground much more, so controlling it was a lot easier. Of course, the slightly shorter and narrower wheel base of the MJX makes it a challenge, but my first step is going to be finding softer springs. Not sure how successful this approach will be because this little car is HEAVY!

To be continued…

I have some shocks from that car, I think the lcracing springs fit just fine, 3 different rates to choose from, warrenRC

Thanks for the tip. Any idea how those compare to the stock ones?

I think the 14210 shocks I purchased from aliexpress are really good. I put them on the kid's 1/16 hypergo truck. The shorter fronts are a perfect fit for that. I had to order another set. I dont really know what I will do with the longer ones. The LCRacing shocks required me to use the bladder from the Traxxas big bores after awhile because they just wouldn't seal anymore. They kept getting sucked in to the shock body.

Did I answer this question well enough? I am not sure which stock ones you are referring to.

I think I worded the question poorly :-(, but it's still good info. I was hoping you might have a comparison with the LC shocks on Warren to the ones that come stock on the 14210. Like maybe that the stiff ones from LC are the same as the stock MJX or something like that. I doubt I'd be able to find actual specs on the spring rates of either so it would be nice to have some sort of starting point. Mostly, I'd hate to buy the softest ones only to find out they're as stiff as what I hope to replace ;-) I appreciate your help!

Thanks!! Will check them out when I get a chance... Strike that! Took a quick peek and they have length, # turns and wire diameter - Awesome!
