Jumping back in

After a 13 to 14 year hiatus from the hobby, I’ve decided to jump back in. My oldest son is starting to show interest in goofing around with R/C cars. Now I’ve caught the bug. I used to run 1/8 scale nitro buggies, but I would like to get into electric, preferably at the 1/10 scale due to cost. My only experience with electric is with an AE 1/18 scale truck I put together well over a decade ago. I have my eye on the AE RC10T 6.1, or something comparable. My knowledge in electric RC is limited and I imagine the hobby has come light years in advancement since the last time I was into it. I’m looking for some recommendations for kits, ESC, batteries and motors. I’m not interested in trophy racing, just looking to have some fast, well handled fun with my son at the local track. I recognize the old RC-18T. I have one as well. Mine has been brushless and LiPo for the better part of a decade as has its cousin that I own in the RC-18R. For ESCs, I'd recommend either a Castle Mamba X or a Good Hobbywing. For the motor, I'd recommend a 5500kV sensored brushless motor. Batteries are pretty much LiPo across the board. I use a 2s 5000 mAH hard-case for my off-road stuff.
