Is this a decent charger?

I'd say its a good charger, I got the prophet sport, it works well both in the house and on the car battery...

Their a pretty popular charger. If you only plan on doing nimh/nicd then its a pretty good buy.

I have one that i have used for awhile NOW and still have IT

i think i have at least 3 or 4 different prophet chargers all work well
i use THEM for alot of the batteries i use for the kids up to 2500 mah

then i use my superbrain 989 for everything else except lipos i have a charger/balancer for those

It's not bad, but I like a charger that charges less than 1A for my 2/3A packs and AA cells. It was my first charger though and worked fine for over a year. I picked up a MRC 959 off a guy for $25 and have used it as my primary for many years now. It goes down to .5A. I also have a duratrax piranha digital charger that I use when I'm in a hurry and have to charge more than one thing at a time.

Yeah that's the thing with this charger, it only goes down to 1amp. I was wondering because I bought a new 2+2+1 hump for my truggy and don't want to ruin it.

It won't ruin it. Typically, people charge based on the capacity.

If it's a NiMH 1400mah pack, 1.4A is the max safe charge rate. I just like to charge mine at a lower rate, especially since I have a lot of AA's that I charge. I don't think they can take as much current while charging like the fatter 2/3A and sub-c cells.

It's a Stickman pack, 2500mah. The lowest setting on the charger is 1amp
