Is there really any other paint job for a '69 Charger?

ok again...do they make this body for 1/10 scale touring cars? this is for savage/tmaxx right?

Cleaner

This is the Savage/Maxx body. I haven't looked to see if they make a 1/10 version. You may want to check with Parma or Bolink to see if they have one.

And TJ, I'm inspired, too. I have another "by request" body on the table now. Just waiting for the paint to arrive. Then I'll have to find another couple projects to do. My Sav 4.6 is on the way so I'll have that to paint. I have a pretty killer idea for that one. We'll have to see if I can make it work!

i found this from parma, but couldnt find anything from bolink. do you have a link?

70 cuda

this is pretty close.

OK, since I haven't looked in a while, it seems Bolink is out of business. They did have a '69 Charger at one time but I guess that's gone. I can't seem to find any others.

great work

i have one question was the blower pre-painted? every body i have seen with a blower has the blower exactly the same

No, the blower isn't prepainted. HPI makes 4 bodies right now with the blower detail and I guess for some reason we all paint them chrome. I hadn't thought about any other detail but I guess you could paint anything you want on it...

i found this pict. its about 3/4 of the way down and its got the blower painted a little different. i think your orange is better though. hemi orange?

Supergharged, bodies can be easy to paint. To do a single color job, all you have to do is maks off the windows (with masks that are usually supplied) and spray it. If you want to get fancy, there are millions of things you can do. For this one, it was a bit of a pain because I handcut the masks for everything. And cutting the fine detail for the 2-color lettering took at least 3 hours just to cut the masks. Plus I had to Photoshop most of the stuff to adjust the size. I told myself I'd never do another one. But I just might at some point. For now, I'm debating whether I should sell this one or not.

Cleaner, the orange I used was a simple custom mix. I started with Parma FasOrange. But that was a bit too bright I thought. Just adding a few drops of FasRed to the orange really made it better. Almost looks like the real thing, doesn't it?

Whoops... I don't think the blower would be too tough to detail. Yeah, it's small, but not so small that you can't work with it. If you're good with mask cutting you could easily do anything on it.

thanks for the advice

i was thinking of adding one to a hpi dodge ram body which i will be extending for my 6x6 project :alarm:

yes 6x6

I really wish HPI would start putting out some of these muscle car bodies they are making for the Savage in 200mm touring car size, and get off the ricer kick. Not everyone with a tc wants rice, or is going to race it, especially an HPI car, lol. No one makes nice old car bodies for touring cars. Parma has a few but the details are no where near as nice as HPI bodies. I would have already bought at least one of each of their muscle car bodies for my RS4, but I think car bodies look stupid on a monster truck. Bolink is out of buisness, but their 1/10 scale bodies never really fit well anyway. I have a 1970 Superbird body I painted like Richard Petty's, it does't fit quite right.

Candyman, a 69 charger looks nothing at all like the dukes charger. It was made during the nascar aero wars of the late 60s and early 70s. It had more of a fastback look to it.

ok so you used photoshop to create the masks, and then did you print them on adhesive paper or what? this is a great paint scheme and you did really well on it, the colors are right and the palcement of the 01 and flag are perfect. great job.

Actually it was worse. I photoshopped the masks. Printed them on plain paper. Stuck a couple layers of masking tape to a piece of clean glass that I have. Put the paper mask over them and cut the outlines with an X-acto knife. I'm really glad I don't have carpal tunnel syndrome or that would have been a real nightmare!

Why did or why whould they change out the motor in them?
The r/t came with a 340 or the 440CID...I my self have never seen a 68/69 charger with a 318 in it...they are big block cars
The base models came out with a 318 and the 383. The R/t is the one with the 440 or my favorite 426 Hemi :).

Nice job on the paint job Candyman looks very nice!
