Anyone know if 1/8 diffs are typically higher or lower than 1/10 scale monster truck diffs? specifically I'm trying to figure out what ratio I need to go on my spur/CB gears on a Mutant maxx.....I'm running 1/8 scale 7.5 diffs w/ 52t spur & 14t CB.....I'm over geared for the track when I use bowties.....I'm looking for the gear ratios for 1/8 scale diffs and can't find a definitive chart...anyone know of or have such info?

I heard the Mugen diff gears are a lower ratio....anyone know if they are compatible w/ a 7.5 diff gear set....

I wouldn't class my self as a gear tech geek, but the MP-7.5 uses a 13/43 diff bevel gear arrangement giving a ratio of 3.31:1

Hope that helps.

To figure out the gear ratio just divide the number of spur gear teeth by the number of clutch bell teeth.

On my Savage SS I have just installed a 52 tooth spur, and I am using a 15 tooth clutch bell. So 52 divided by 15 = a 3:47 gear ration. It came stock with a 48 tooth spur and 15 tooth bell, so 48 divided by 15 = a 3:20 ratio.

But isn't that just the ratio going into the diffs, which are down another 3.31 or so?? The manual for my Inferno MP7.5 gives a gear ratio of 11.7/1.

On another note the stock savage spur is 49, not 48. Not a big deal, I just thought I'd point that out :)

tried the 13 t CB & did the same thing..
gonna try 54t/12t and that should drop me about 150 RPM at the wheel...Does this soung like a significat enough drop that will prevent the Clutch shoes from burning up in high traction situations?

ANyone ever hear about the Mugen Diffs having a lower ratio then the standard buggy diff ratios?
