* Just to say what I'm thinking ... Faulty hall sensor on motor perhaps ?

HW XR8 Plus G2S ESC ... HW Xerun 4274 2250 kv G2 Motor ... Running fully sensored.

Forward operation is flawless, changes in programming motor responds as it should & runs flawless IN FORWARD :thumbs-up:

Now REVERSE has issues i just can't figure out as no programming changes of ANY KIND have an effect of reverse
* If you give just enough reverse throttle to move vehicle it is smooth ( Talking when vehicle just starts moving slowly ) ANY MORE throttle and vehicle starts to shutter in a cyclic on/off on/off on/off stutter that speeds up as reverse speed gets faster. * As stated no tune parameters be it Timing, Frequency, Boost or Turbo etc has ANY effect !!!

I sent an Inquire to Hobby Wing today, then realized there in Pasadena Ca .... Not sure they too have not burn down with these recent LA county fires

Any idea guys ?

Thanx

Just did a test by REVERSING motor direction with ESC programer

Forward trigger has vehicle go backwards & Smoothly !!
Reverse trigger has vehicle go forwards & STUTTERING

So it's not a motor hall sensor issue .... Damn ????

What remote are you using? I have a Spektrum DX5 I am running with my hobbywing setup. I turned my throttle endpoint down to tame the motor a bit. If I set the endpoint low enough it kills my reverse. Might be worth checking to rule it out.

The remote in this case a FLY SKY FS-GT3C
* It is being used w/o issue on 2 other rigs and had in the past been used with this ESC / motor w/o issue making 3 rigs.
Now for what ever the reason this reverse issue has cropped up ??????

Reverse is not dead & programming ESC for how MUCH reverse % works as it should. It just Pulses when applying.

All you can do is swap components one at a time until you find the problem.

Did some more digging today ...
1st off Hobby Wing in LA ( Pasadena is shut down for sure due to fires, maybe burnt down ? ) So no help coming from there end on my inquire ... So
Pulled the receiver taking Flysky radio completely out of the equation.
In its place a Futaba 113 receiver tied to a Vintage 3PK Magnum radio ( Crystaled )
GUESS WHAT ? .... Works PERFECT !!!

So a bad receiver or the cheepo flysky radio is going teets up ?

So I just went through this tonight setting up a new crawler to a flysky gt3b. I went to new model and went through calibration fine. Forward was fine, reverse was just as you experienced.

The radio didn’t reset the values from a different model to the new model so go through all channel 2 settings and make sure they at 100% for endpoint (forward and brake/reverse) and d/r, no trim, 0% expo and abs is off.

Then go through calibration again

Mine was a hobbywing system too

I'm figuring that being this "Issue" is on a rig that will be run is somewhat close proximity, having an Antenna on both TX & RX is acceptable.
The 3PK radio ( TX ) is a pretty awesome rig having so much adjustablity that in spite the age ( 15 years or so ) it is very much suited for the task.
The Fly Sky radio was CHEAP !!!! at @ $40 by comparison to the 3PK that years ago was north of $400

Get what you pay for is not really that incorrect a statement to make :hungover:

So this worked. Good to know.

I've had my GT3B for about 10 years now I think. And the GT5 I have is about 8 years old. Neither have had problems. But you guys arent the first I have seen in the last few months having problems.
