Sup,

Just painted my lasted lid for my savage. Again with rattle cans only but I think this one actually turned out pretty decent. Let me know what you think. This is a from start to end type deal here.

Yeah I have to say I am pretty happy with the way this thing turned out. I just need to get it mounted so I can bash with it. I have a feeling that I am going to make some functional holes in it and I may not exactly want too.

newnitrofan, when you use that paint, do you have problems with it chipping. I painted a Escalade with rattle cans. First I went to Michaels and bought red flake thats in a can, then I bought the metallic red from Wal-Mart in the model isle. First I laid the red flake until I used the hole can, then shot it with the model paint. Then for the windows I used the transparent red model paint for the tint. It turned out beautiful and glittered like a bass boat in the sun. Then I ran it wrecked a few times and it started chipping. I could probably peal it off and have a new body again besides the windows. Just wondering if you had that problem, sorry so long.

Model paint isn't designed for lexan, and lexan's tendancy to flex. Paint designed for R/C car bodies (lexan) is. It doesn't get totally hard, and I think it has some kind of bonding agent in it too. I personally use Testors R/C body paint. I can't remember the exact name of it, but a LHS should carry it.

NNF, nice job bro. Looks awesome.

i use pactra rattle cans designed for bodies for my LHS regular spary paint wont hold up to bashing or fuel

It's unfortunately the way things are. It's even going to get scratched up too. I'm sure you'll get over it though.

Ehhh I don't mind making it a body that is functional it's not like the paint job is some $100.00 paint job. The funnest one I have done so far though honestly. I think next I am going to do a Suburban. I dunno we shall see. I wonder how the Pactra Clear holds up to the bashing and fuel. I would be interested to know anyone's experience with it.

Pactra paints have always held up great agains fuel for me, however, they seem to chip off under EXTREME beating conditions.

Nice lid man.
