i purchased a hpi rs4 rtr about 3 mnths ago and i love this little friggin monster..not the fastert car out there and you can't adjust the front toe in, but it is as consistant as the north star. Does burnouts like nobodies business and even takes little jumps over speed bumps with ease. I would suggest that if you are new to the rc world go get this car...it ROCKS.:smoke:

Well, it's nice to hear a good report about it. Most people consider the RS4 a good basher. And to some degree I agree. I have one. I like it. It typically runs like clockwork. You're right, it's not the fastest with the .15FE. I put a 2-speed and a bigger exhaust header on mine and it is faster. The only thing I haven't been able to do which some have is to get a 2-needle carb for it. That makes a lot of difference. But I think mine's about to get an OS .15 CV-RX to get it going ballistic....

I have one too, I dont race but I love it for parking lot bashing. I have done a few things to mine, two speed tranny, ths racing pipe, adjustable turnbuckles, cvds, and a OS 10e carb, the stock engine is still running great and starts easily after nearly two years. I have run so much fuel through it I lost track of exactly how much. However when it does finally go, I will just throw an OS in it.

while were talkin about RS4's...i ran my rs4 ss for the first time today with the body..yah it took me 1 month before i decided to cut and paint the body..anyway..it handles like crap with a body! its the firebird ram air body..and when i get up to speed it seems like its hydroplaning, and even on 1st to second gear shift it seems to get all loose in the back. i know adding a body didnt give me more power...do touring car shells have that much affect on aerodynamics/downforce?

i hear the shells make a huge difference. I read in another thread that like 98% of racers use the dodge stratus body.....

by the way i was bashing my hpi today and broke the upper part of the rear control arm..look at the pics, I also broke my muffler. Slamed the lil guy into the curb going like 20 and it was not a pretty picture.

Its my first break woohooo:party:

damage pics

that is part number 85037..i dont know the actual name but I've always called it a hub carrier.

haha yah i for me breakage is more of an oppertunity than a problem...and as long as i had a good bash in b4 a break I'm kinda proud of myself for smashin my R/C's lol

i went out today with the intention of running it so hard that something broke......i must have flipped it ove a speed bump 5 times and slamed it into the curb twice..on the second slam thats what happened..I looked at my parts i have and found a extra set of those rear hubs so no need to even order em....just need to get a new exhaust unless you guys think i can use that one with no problems...(look at first pic)

:ahh:

I'm about to drop a fantom fr.12 in my RS4-3 :) YIPEE!!! But on breakage I wish I had pics I was in a TOTALLY open parking lot and ran it into a building! I was going to turn sharply but it ran out of gas ! DOH! I broke the umm I'm going to call it the front hub its the big piece that attached to the axle and all that good stuff major crash but wont cost more then 10 dollars in parts :) I have the original RS4 RTR that I am putting a new 15FE in to see if it runs any better bc I have the OLD 15fe with the old ass steel(?) head or whatever that silver thing on top is :)

hmm...I'm not certian but only thing i can think of is you will have a little less back pressure ( a very minute amount) with the stinger broken like that..prob no big deal at all..and also you will be getting oil spray all over you body on the inside lol...if you do run a body that is.

i have a rs4 3 ss and i think its a great basher and beginner car. it took me 2 hours to get my handling right but after that it worked great. i have the stratus body and it works fine for me. yesterday i ran it into the curb again and bent my dual exhast and broke my rear shock.. ohhh well, :censored: happens.

cesar

If you want to continue running that pipe, pick up the smaller size exhaust deflector, drill out the hole where the stinger was a little bit, just enough so that you can push the end of the deflector in to the pipe. I ran mine like this for a while after I hit a curb at wot before I bought my ths racing pipe for mine, it ran just fine.

i ran it with the broken pipe today and it was fine....but yeah it got the inside of the body really dirty...seemed like it wanted o cut off more often, does that have anything to do with the lessened backpressure? i just increased the throttle on the radio and it hung in just fine.

I've been running as RS4RTR 3 for 3 months now and think its a great Nitro to start with. Came with the F150 Flareside and I just replaced it last weekend with the Stratus body. Also added a MIP racing clutch and 2 speed trans, Venom tires/wheels and fuel filter and color matched the fuel line and air filter to the body. First time out with the new build and I hit the curb nearly head on and bent the chassis and cracked the rear axle...new chassis is on the way, upgraded to the HD one, thought about Carbon Fiber but will pass for now. Also adding CVD's and threaded shocks. Any other suggestions, I'm think an OS .12 CVR after the new year with exhaust as well.

i dont have any other suggestions..but id definitly go with that OS CVR..i have a OS 21 RG in my maxx and it is the most reliable and consistant mill I've run yet, and puts out exelent power for what its rated at (not that HP numbers mean anything..jsut a "market hype" guesstimate) as i can take my friends savage 25 from the line and up top in a drag...even tho i still want a savage for my next project..for as big as it is it jumps and lands and acts like it never left the ground.....and IMO looks it bad ass. crap I'm starting to stray off later--

Well I sure am glad to hear that this car is finally getting a fair shake from some people. Yes the car is no full out racer but it is a very great car. I've had mine for about 8 months now. It's the first car I started out with and have upgraded it a bunch. Anyone has any questions I can help out a little bit. I have a Fantom FR 15 in mine right now. I am going to put the 03 FR 12 in it next week. Newayz good thead.

I have a question.

What would run better in an RS4 rtr:

OS CV-RX .15

OS CV-RX .12

Ofna Hyper .21 4 port

I was thinking the OS's would most likely run faster, but there are some sweet deals for the hypers online right now.

What do you all think?

the hyper .21 4 port will not fit in a RS4..it is a "big block" class motor and has a much larger mounting footprint then the "small block" motors ( .12, .15, .18)

either one of the OS mills you listed will be great in a RS4. while the OS cv-rx .15 has a tad bit more power and probably a flatter, broader torque curve of the two, the OS cv-rx .12 will still be an awesome mill to replace the rather feeble 15FE that came with the RS4 RTR. with those mills youl be looking at twice the power of the stock motor..plus the added benefit of OS reliability, ease of tuning, and long life. peace---

Well, I wouldnt think the ofna would fit, but a conversion may be do-able.

Thanks for the help.
Those OS's look nice, and I think (in reality) they will probably make for a higher top speed anyway.
