How to Clean an Air Flter

Remove the foam, Wash it out with Warm soapy water.. I use a bit of dishwasher liquid(really cuts the grease). rinse it well... sqeeze all the water out... I roll it really tight in a paper towel.. Let it air dry,,, then re-oil it and intsall .

However... New filter foams are really cheap, and lots of the "Big" guys here say that you will never get all the fine dirt out anf it can later get sucked into your engine.. If your running a reall expensive engine, I wouldn't take any chances.

You should really upgrade from a stock filter to a 2 stage, if you don't have one. The outer ring blocks most of the dust, and rarely do you see the inner oiled ring looking grubby, as long as you keep the outer one clean.
Motor Saver is the preferred brand.

Motor Saver - cleaning like MadKawi said and you're good to go. I do keep a couple of extra sets so if I run where it's really dusty/dirty I can just swap and keep running then clean up later.

Thanks ill do it tonite, only problem i have no oil. Hobby shop has none!!!!
I heard water eats away the foam, but that was on motorbike sir filters so if it works for you, ill try it thanks!!
But what i do about the oil?? I'm not running inn dusty conditions

Not real sure but I think they used to use motor oil before we had special filter oil. Please confirm this before doing it.

So will it be ok with no oil??

NO. Absolutely not. If there is no oil in the filter, dust will almost certainly get into your engine which will lead to premature wear. The tacky filter oil 'catches' dust thus keeping your engine internals nice and dirt free. You MUST put oil on your filter.

Well hobby shop has no filter oil
Is there anthing a all that i can put on it as a temporary fix??
Lubricant? Something??

I use " NoToil" brand oil... It came from the motorcross world but no its in the ATV world... I use it on my foam filters for my Kawi Brute Force 650, so I hope its good enough for my Nitro...

It is as sticky as dog crap on your new shoes.. And, the "NoToil" cleaner is biodegradable, so just clean it in the kitchen sink and let it go right down the drain )unlike dog poop.. : )

Thanks for that guys, just got back from honda shop, bought Castrol foam filter oil. Should be good, will probably fire up my rig on friday for a burn :P

So will it be ok with no oil??
i use a blue oil its very very sticky. its celluloses or some weird name but it catches really small particles in the air. it may be this Dynamite Blue Air Filter Oil. the fuel isnt getting shot into the piston like a car. the fuel actually lubes the crankcase and then into the piston and then compress and fires like 30,000 a min. so that little engine is pushing a lot of air through it. so never run the filter dry.
