went out for a bash today still getting some high temps 280 to 315 now i kept on richen out the HSN but the temps where still high. I've been told to try seal the carb and backplate before but to be honest i tightend the carb but didn't seal it or the backplate.

newbie questions

what is the backplate?
exactly how do i seal it?
how do i seal the carb?

guys also if anyone has any pictures that could help would be brilliant cheers in advance.

I can't get you pics right now, but I can explain.

The backplate is where your pullstarter ties onto. Take the pullstart or roto start off (if you have neither of these then the backplate is under the exhaust port) YOu don't need to take the backplate completely off, just take the screws out and pull the back plate out 1/4 of an inch. Make sure your piston is in the up position, if not you run the chance of braking the piston when you take the backplate out. Once you have this done take some High temp rtv sealant and run a small bead around the inside of the backplate. Once you have the bead reinstall the backplate. You will have some rvt squish out the sides of the backplate, just wipe it up. Your backplate is now sealed.

The process is the same with the carb. Loosten the pinch bolt that holds the carb in place and pull the carb out 1/4 of an inch. Run a small bead of the rtv sealant around the carb then push it back into place and tighten it up. Your carb is now sealed.

Exhaust dented

i took the engine off today to start sealing the backplate and carb haven't done it yet need to go out and buy some sealent.

anyway i noticed my exhaust has a few bad dents in it this must of happened a week ago when i took a few hard landings and noticed it had come loose after the bash. :depress:

1.will this make a huge deal to the performance?
2. could it have anything to do with my high temps?
3. can i use the old revo pipe is there a big difference in performance?
4. can it be repaired
5. whats a reasonablably priced alternative i can't find the rb one for sale in the uk

sorry about all the questions guys:opps:

I have heard of people plugging up one end of the pipe, filling it with water.
Then putting it in the freezer. Don't know what they were plugging the pipe up with though.

Anybody else heard this?
