I have a question.... I have been into the hobby intermittently for years going back to my first car the grasshopper 2. I was big into the nitro in the mid 2000s and had a savage 25 and a revo. My son who is nine just started to take an interest in my savage and I was going to replace the motor after going to my lhs I decided to go lipo. And they something new. I bought the maxx for me and the slash 4x4 for my son. Now my question is does any one have any advice on buying batteries i plan on going out and probably need a bunch of batteries for non stop bashing. I've see some brands on amazon and online hobby sites that seem to be a little cheaper than traxxas. Any help will be greatly appreciated...

i hear a lot of good things about the zeee batteries, Venom has been around for awhile and make decent batteries.
what charger do you have?
new traxxas batteries and chargers use the ID Technology, which is great because its simple, i do not know for sure if it has a balance port though. their batteries dont have a balance plug, so you have to use their charger for it.

I have the traxxas charger but I bought the one with the extra plugs for balancing... I used to use venom batteries all the time ... my thing was some of these batteries are expensive and some are cheaper ... I know you get what you pay for but I figured if I can get 2 for the price of one knowing they might not last as long but to just use them for bashing...

Bashing is the hardest thing you can do on a battery. I would recommend staying with at least a 50c discharge rate. Anything less and you will swell the batteries in no time

i have heard decent reviews of Zeee batteries, Ovonic, Goldbat, and turnigy batteries.
cheap LiPos can be quite dangerous too, so its kind of a double edged sword so to speak.
i do not know for sure what will fit into your vehicle but these seem like a good price:

again double check your dimensions, i also do not know what cell count you are going for.
