I have a traxxas 18 tooth cluchbell and I got the old bearings out and when I tried to put them in the new one it seem as if it was too big.
whats wrong?

The new clutchbell did not come with bearings? Hmmm.

If it is grossly oversized (the bearing to the clutchbell by comparison), then you need to go to your LHS and see if they can hook you up. If it is only just a snug fit (minor over sizeds), you can try cleaning the bearing case really well. Then use just the smallest amount of oil on both the case of the bearing and the clutchbell and see if you can ease the bearing in.

I'm still kind of surprised that your "new" clutchbell didn't come with bearings.

Okay, after looking at Tower Hobbies, I guess I can get over my surprise. Seems that they do not sell them with bearings. I bought mine at my LHS and they all came with a set of bearings.

its the traxxas 18 tooth and it says nothing about bearings and it seems like its only several mm too big

You need to get your hands on a set of 5mm x 10mm bearings. I'm trying to check what should have come with the stock clutch bell.

Apparently, the bearings come in two flavors (the 5 X 10mm and the 5x11mm). I'm betting you have the larger of the two.

TRAXXAS Part No 4609 is the thing you are looking for.

Another option (Duratraxx...don't know how good they are)

And then you can search for some higher quality ones.

Mike if you got a stock TRX clutch bell in a traxxas package what was the part number? Also did you buy your truck new? Was it running the stock CB? X

the part number is 4118 and the ones out of the stock cluchbell does not fit into the new one

Well mike you are gonna have go to the lhs and get the correct size bearing. If they cost and arm and a leg for the bearings see if they have another brand clutch bell like a Racers edge. They come with bearings for sure they are what ?I run and they are vented if it matters. Anyway if bearings cost as much as a clutch bell with bearing get another clutch bell. Well your own your own today.. I am off to bash I will check in with you boys tonight. X

Yes the 18 tooth bell requires smaller bearings. I used the dynamite sealed bearings in my racers edge bell, they were three dollars each and I needed three, but it did come with cheap ass bearings.

Have a good time today X, get some pics.

Ok, thanks i'll try to find some bearings and make my ae pipe work

Well, I'm glad to see that you all agree with me.

Mike c., I gave you the size for the bearings (5mmx10mmx4mm-referred to as 5x10) you will need and the TRAXXAS part number for the bearings that go with the 18T clutch bell. Either one should get you where you need to be when you visit your LHS or shop online. Good luck in your quest.

ok, thanks and i'll tell you guys how it works out and sunday will be maxx bashing day cause my friend is coming over with his new 2.5 maxx 8-0

Here in the UK,when you look at the part listings it tells you to also buy the the bearings seperate and gives the part number.

I remember I had a 18t clutch bell in my t-maxx and the beartings are smaller than the stock clutch bell bearings, but your lhs should have them.

went to the hobby shop got everything the header pipe and cluchbell bearings plus the other stuff i needed (flywheel and one way bearing) and man, this thing hauls! and it sounds awsome and it also wheelies! wich, I wanted it to do since day 1. and I cut the header so it fits perfectly.

thanks x, ncnitro, woodie, and every one else that suggested this setup. :classic:

Wheelies... That is scaring me boy how hot are you running that thing? 425???? X

Cool Mike, glad you got some hop ups for your T.

Next thing you are going to want to get is a temp gun. The Radio Shack one works great for $29. Pro .15s are notorious for running hot anyway so you want to be a careful not to lean it too far.

I thought about it and I don't want to spend the mony. and besides I like the water-drop-on-the-head way.
