I have returned to the hobby after 10 years.

currently I have
Kyosho FW06 all stock
HPI savage X semi stock dynamite .28
HPI savage X modified caged NOVAROSSI .28
Kyosho TKI3 werks B5 PRO

All great, except, I have really no idea how build well designed reliable brushless system.

hit me up with the basics to the full story.

I don’t know specs what does 2000kv mean against another

what sets apart an on road high speed basher motor vs an 8s monster truck system

for my specific application..how do I build a reliable 8s system for an ARMA Limitless?

Goals that must be met...

100mph minimum

150mph minimum-maxim

Ability to maintain a safe temperature

As I understand motor specifications must be somewhat carefully matched with your desired gear ratio to maintain safe temperature levels and avoid overheating

2000kv means 2000 rpm per volt..so a 8 cell will be 33.6volts so 67.200 rpm no load..good luck getting to 150 mph...isn't that like a new world record for rc .I think so..I have a few Drag cars 2 1/6 scale 2 1/10 scales and a few 1/16 and 1/18 scales I run 132 feet and 500 foot just for top speed runs.cars are HPI GTP V2.losi xxxg4 mini 8 and Vortex with a 540 2 turn brushed on 4 cell lipo.

If you run a lower KV motor with higher voltage you're just going to add a lot of weight to the car. That might be something you want if you're looking to get the speed in order to keep from getting airborne. If you go with a higher KV motor and lower voltage you'll have a lighter car unable to reach higher speeds. On a speedrun you're not going to run more than five or six seconds at a time and then check for Speed. that means that you will be shutting down fairly often and have time to cool in between runs. Nobody can really tell you what motor and ESC to put in that car without knowing exactly how you plan to run it and what surface you are to run on. You will also have to experiment with different pinion and Spur Gears in order to find the correct one for the speed you want to run. You can get a amp meter to keep an eye on your amperage draw. Good luck and let us know how it's going, be sure to include the combinations you're going with.

Yeah I’m gonna have to do a lot of research on motors and esc’s. From the research I have done 150mph should not be super difficult to achieve in an ARMA Limitless. The chassis design and more importantly the aero is what allows this particular RC to achieve the speeds and not flip over.

Do you have a place you can run that fast without being in danger of running into something in case something goes wrong. That is the one thing that is stop me from getting a car that will do those kind of speeds. All it takes is one little bump in the road and you're done.

Lol oh yeah I hear ya! I have some large lots locally that we autocross full size cars on as well as a dragstrip. The open wheel design has me a bit nervous. I considered an infraction for the obvious durability reasons over the Limitless but I can't pass up the formula one style design. I’ve found most people are having little to no trouble getting the infraction above 100 with mods even with the truck body..

Oh man that's terrible. Fast but terrible...

a buddy of mine got a xo1 and first run hit a car tire in the lot at around 90 mph. cost more to fix than replace

Limitless castle 1520 1650kv and the new felony body
