Broke this on mine http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/WTI0095P?FVSEARCH=hmxe8313&search=Go Have to order it.
I would like to have a few extra parts on hand. What breaks easy?

If no one has one, got something close? What parts are ya keeping?
Here's what I'm thinking so far.

Rotor blades too.

Well, the no-brainer is extra blades and a fly bar, but it looks like you got a good start. You may want to consider a main shaft in case you bend it.

I have to agree with Karl.

Get a couple of main shafts (not sure, is the main gear molded to the shaft ?, the Blade CP is), a little bend can throw everything off.

If you're still learning, check out these blades:

http://www.jcshobbies.com/products_axe.html

They are one of the best investments I made when I was learning to fly (I had a blade CP). They are very durable, and if you hit them against something, they just get nicked, so xacto, or file the nick a bit and keep using them. You don't totally wreck them every time you touch down hard, or slip up a bit.

They're not symmetrical, so no 3d, but for flying around they are great. Being a bit heavier then the wood blades also makes them react a bit slower, which is a big help when learning to fly.

I just started with a mangled mess of a blade I rebuilt, but the Helimax looks a bit more robust, especially the landing gear.

Once you learn to fly one of the little choppers, like the axe, when you step up to something like a 450 size, you'll be surprised how much more stable the 450s are then these.

Have fun,
Mike

The rotor parts you're showing are not parts that routinely break. You'll need spare blades, spare tail rotor blades, and you'll probably want most of the tail rotor assembly for parts.
You can usually get an entire replacement package of tail parts (plastic) called a first aid kit. Tail boom strikes during landings are a common cause of damage.

Thanks Rolex. I was hoping ya would post.

Looks like those would break when the rotor blade hit. Just where the linkage connects.
The blade grips broke at the ball link.
Rotors have took some hits, but not hurt. Gonna order a couple of sets.
On the tail rotor. Looks like the rotor and one plastic gear? Other gear looks like brass? Don't think I would mess anything else up unless I bent the tail boom.

Got one plastic gear on the main rotor i might order? http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXNWJ3&P=PU

That's the main gear, pretty much the same as a spur. It's good to keep one in stock since it's easy to strip a few teeth off it with a main rotor strike.

Yup, a crash kit would be good. I agree with the main gear, main shaft, and don't forget the feathering shaft. Those tend to bend easily because they're pretty thin. Blades definitely, too.

Never heard of a feathering shaft...
But I found it. :D

Not really messed with copters much. Lot more parts than a fixed wing aircraft....

Yup. A lot more parts. And more of them tend to break when you crash. That's why I'm always neurotic when I try to fly. One slip and I'm breaking out my Visa. Unlike my Combat Wing, which just bounces when you drive it into the ground.

Just got that and a Blade. Visa hasn't been hurt yet. :hehe:

Most of the time with the fixed wing aircraft, I just cleaned off the glow fuel and put it back in the truck.
Bought the copters for something to fly in the yard. Flying them last weekend got me wanting to build my little Tiger Moth.
