imnotsure: I'll hold off and wait for the 26. I put a 16t on and run it in the dirt this afternoon. Was fast, but it's a real strain on the 21bb. I'm gonna pull the CB and replace the worn out bearings in a bit, but the bell has turned blue from heat (kind of worried about the shoes). I'm also gonna overhaul the shifter, cause it wouldn't shift reliably either. The few wheelies that it has done were a blast, but I really need more horses to do them on demand. I just have to wait for Picco to get them to the states.

Maybe it's the wt of oil. I don't know what Chris is running, but like I said, I have 80 in 6.75 at the moment. I just wasted most of a can of nitro cleaner getting the other 1.25 shocks worth off the suspension.

Off topic: what would a 16t CB do on the 21bb?

just to let you guys know HPI supplies their stock shocks with #100 petroleum oil that is the equivelant to 10wt silicon oil...HPI recomends anything between 10wt to 30wt depending on the weight of your savage.. 80wt is extreme! and would be the reason for your blow out since your shocks would have a very hard time compressing (I'm surprised you didnt break a suspension part in the process). if you drive your savage offroad i just can't see it being stable with 80 wt oil, heck when i had 30wt in my shocks my savage was bouncing all over the place, the suspenion was not doing its job. since then i replaced it with 10wt silicon oil and have been very happy (the suspension looks impressive with this setup). the most important thing is that those 7.5 inch shocks are being completely used like they should be.

I use 35 in the front and 40 in the rear. Works fine for me so far, plus about 1/2 inch of preload spacers in rear. That is with stock shocks and springs.
