Hey guys,

Just got the ok from the money warden that I can get new RC. How ever, I am still up in the air on which way I want to go. I am new to this stuff but having a blast with what I got right now (Cen MT2) I would like to step it up a notch, but not sure what truck or what ? I want to get. All I do is backyard bashing, and just found out yesterday thru LHS that there putting in a new track soon HOOORAAH. So, that means I could get into a little racing. Never done that before, but looks like a blast. Over the course of being here I here horror stories about guys having problems with the 3speeder's. Would that be something to consider if getting into racing or will 2 speed be fine. Also, looking for reliability. I know that in bashing your going to rip things up and tear things off. I am thinking more on the lines of mechaniclly tight. I don't want to spend over $600 on rtr. Give me some ideas and why/ experiances with the model you have.
Thanks guys

First off racing and ANY multi speed tranny is just a headache....get a truggy..the Jammin looks pretty nice....but if you really want to set up for racing sell the CEN and add that dough to a real race rig.....IF you go that route you'll have more fun IMO.....the higher end stuff usually lets you get away w/ less wrenching.....and the build is fun too.....

OK..Let's say I go the truggy route. Which I take is the same thing as a buggy correct. Hey, I got to learn the jargen somewhere. So let's say I go the route of a truggy like ya say. What iyo would be a nice one for the money. Are they a constant maintanice. I know it depends on how you drive it, but overall how are they. Easy to wrench on. What is the differance between the MT and the buggy as far as ride. I know the truck sits high, so there's the high center of gravity thing, and the buggys sits low, So how is the difference with ride/action. What kind of money we looken at to get into a nice one.

Plaidfish, I figured out the differance between the truggy and the buggy. Sorry for the noob question, but I figure if I don't ask..I'll never know. Kinda on the same line as there's no stupid question. I see it as if I don't ask, then I'm the stupid one for not asking.

well teh MTs IMO are a novelty racer...it's like trying to race a downhill soapbox derby in a shopping cart....it will get you there and still be fun but if you want performance the buggy platform is the way to go...the truggy would be a nice basher as well....buggies tend to be too low to really use in grass and real rough terrain... but on packed hard surfaces they kill races.....
Everyone seems to like the CRT and LSP truggies...the LSP is a real nice ride but I think the parts availability and the fact you have to rig up some frame braces are lil on teh down side...the Jammin CRT won the nationals and has excellent distribution.....I was really waiting for the Hellfire but after seeing one I lost that urge...I'm gonna use my T-maxx conversion truggy this year IF I can get to the track.....it's been sitting for 3 months now and I'm getting irritated seeing it sit so long.....

lol on the explanation of the MT. It's just alot of fun. So are most of the truggies and the buggies 2 speeds and if I'm looking in to it, do I stay with a 1/10 scale or the 1/8 scale. Again I know it is preferance, but I'm just throwing the question out there. I just want to get something that if I have to get parts I don't have to wait a week. We only got one LHS in town and that one deals with the MT's and the cars otherwise parts are shipped from Las Vegas. That's frustrating just from the parts standpoint. If I don't go with either of the ones you mentioned cause of the parts and the other cause thats alittle more that what I wanted to pay. What eles is out there that's worth the money.

I agree with Plaid and Revo... I started out trying to race my Tmaxx and after a few hundred.. maybe even more.... the Maxx is still fun, but not a racer. Then I bought an entry level buggy... had fun, learned enough about racing to know, I wanted more tunability... so I went with a kit and bought the CRT. I am just starting to run it, and even now I can already see I am in a whole other league. My next purchase is a better higher end buggy. Good luck my friend... and congrats... my soon to be wife is letting me get another toy too!

for 600 I think the only game to look at really is hte Jammin CRT....sell the CEN and put it into the Jammin for a better radio, servos and pipe.....I'm sure there are a number of upgrades that will keep you happy as you break the stock parts......if you are just starting out and really want to race it is alot easier to concentrate on one rig till you have a lil more experience w/ nitro RCs...I know I went crazy at first too (wait I still do) and ended up w/ more headaches that toys.....

Well Plaidfish, I hope I'm not gonna be getting alot of headaches, cause I went out and bought the Savage today. I'm gonna have fun with the big toys before I get serious into races. You are probably write in many ways, But dang it...never had a nice Mt before.

Oh you won't be dissapointed w/ the savage...it's probably the most reliable and toughest RTR right out of the box.....enjoy it.....they fly better than most MTs as well.....stop talking about it and run it....I need to live vicariously through everyone's nitro running lately....

If I could catch a break in this weather out here, it would sure be nice. We are expecting 1-2 inches of the white stuff by tomorrow. At least that's what one out of the three news stations are saying. Man....I will be glad when it warms up. I'm sick of this stuff.

alright I am officially not helping you ever.....just for mentioning snow to me and complaining about it....
