I have a T-maxx 2.5 and there is a strange clicking noise coming from the front diff. I am not sure how this happened. it clicks when i accelerate in reverse and when i am braking. Is this a common problem?? HELPP!!!

Either the diff cup is broken or the ring gear is stripped. Either way, you'll need to replace something. Those two parts generally come packaged together. Expect about $12 unless you upgrade to something else. If you are running the stock engine I wouldn't worry about upgrading though. If you are running the stock engine I also suspect that it's the diff cup that is broken. I assume this because it is the front diff, not the rear. That engine isn't strong enough to strip out a ring gear unless something is already out of whack but the cup get's put under A LOT of stress when under hard braking.

Since the topic came up... I have a striped front differential, would that have any affect on the tranny?

In a T-Maxx, no. It just means all of your drive is going to the rear wheels. It does not change the load on the transmission gears prior to the split of the powertrain. The first part in line that will receiver more load is the rear outdrive that comes out of the tranny, but the tranny itself sees no change.
