As directed I'm going to start a thread asking for help to get my revo right.... I'm sure most of yall are tired of answering the same quetions and problems over and over... i get that way sometimes on gixxer.com, but my lhs just dont want to be much assistance... so i can pretty much idle as long as i want and it seems to have good power, in fact it runs around 270-280 degrees but my temp gauge is off from my friend professional gauge by about 15 degrees, if i richen the hsn any more it wont even shift into second, i have (at least to me) a good smoke trail, its pretty thick and dwindles down a little once the speed picks up.. but i do have alot of residue on the front of the engine here are some pics

so any advice... this thing is brand new maybe 9 tanks total of fuel ran through.... also anybody know anyone from the south east from savannah to jacksonville ill drive to get help if need be

Ok, to me that looks like a front bearing leak. What you do to check for one is,
Steps:
1) Take your engine out of car.
2) Take off everything up to the front bearing,(Clutch bell, bearings, clutch shoes, fly wheel,etc... Don't take off your cooling head or carb, or back plate..)
3) Then make some soapy water
4) Take a small piece of fuel tubing, 2-3 inches and put it on the fuel intake on the HSN.
5) Take the soapy water and put some on the front bearing.(DON'T put any in the engine!!!)
6) While blocking the farb air intake with your index finger ,blow through the piece of fuel tubing you put on the HSN.
7) Watch the front bearing, if there is bubbles occuring when you blow into the HSN, you got an air leak.
If you do, call traxxas customer service and tell them what's wrong. They'll probably tell you to send it in.
Since the engine is basically new they should fix it for free. I had to send in my Revo Platinum engine in because of a front bearing leak, they sent me a new one for free.
Hope this helps :)

got exactly the same problem with my trx... half gallon old engine... i bumping this thread for more inputs and suggestions from other members...

btw are you also using WD-40 for engine after-run?

Ya, I use WD-40 for after run oil! :) It's cheaper than after run oil, and works just as good! I also spray a 2 second burst into my empty fuel tank if I'm not running my car for a while!;) If you have a front bearing leak, I would call traxxas.

I called traxxas they said its normal to have residue in that area... they said if its soaking wet then i could have a problem.. i did do the leak test and nothing happened any where...

and another thing that popped up today.. the truck will idle for ever. but once its good and wormed up after a couple full throttle passes or anything like that i can stop it and it will idle for a sec or two then just die... if i let off slowly or stop and hit the throttle a couple times it will idle till i shut it off, it only shuts off by its self after a full throttle run.. why is that

Set it to factory settings and re tune, is my answer to that, and check your carb's slide valve to see if it has the proper gap.

ahhhh i can't for some reason factory settings are way off for me.. it wont run, way to lean.. it runs great with about 5 turns out with the hsn, about 1 mm out on the lsn... its close.... its a ton of fun just a couple bugs to fix

I bought my revo 3 months ago, and I finally got it tuned just right. I had similar problems you are facing. From the sound of it, you are most likely looking at an air leak. This could be coming from your hsn, worn out or torn gaskets in your carb or back plate. The solution I found to remedy air leaks, is to completely seal your engine with a high temp sealant. I used Ultra Copper sensor-safe gasket maker sealant from my local auto parts store. After I sealed my engine, it ran in the safe zone temp with proper tuning. Heres what you need to seal: Back plate, and neck of carb. If you have over tightened your hsn beyond the stopping point and it caused the hsn assembly to turn, it may have broke the seal there too. If this is the case you may have stripped your threads or created an air leak. Before you take apart your hsn, check for an airleak as REVO MANIAC as explained. If it leaks, take it apart and seal all mating parts. BE CAREFUL NOT TO GET ANY SEALANT IN YOUR ENGINE OR CARB!!!!!. Use the end of end of a tie wrap to apply the sealant. DONT OVER DO IT, YOU ONLY NEED A LITTLE BIT!!!!!!!! Also, you may want to check your compression by simply turning your flywheel with you index finger from the under side. Do this when your engine is cold, if it spins with ease, you may need to replace your engine. CALL TRAXXAS! As the piston reaches top dead center it should become more difficult and you should hear a thump. Hope this helps.

Good Luck trying to seal a leaking front bearing....:snooty:
