Not sure either with that terrible choice of photo.... I don't think the battery strapped to the body is a good idea though. I get it, where else can it go? Anywhere but up there.
I would place a camera in the cab looking out the windshield or somewhere on top of the shell.
 
That battery is there for the lights. I haven't attacked the camera to anything yet. I'm thinking about making a housing and using velcro. Its one battery supply.
 
There's lots of brush and twigs. Needs to be kept safe from that and the tall grass
 
Ages ago I mounted a camera up in my SCX10.
I used a provided mount and glued it to the inner roof of the body so it aligned with the window; the windshield was the outline of the view.

Why not do something like that?

It's protected from anything that can hit it.

The only negative I found was if snow got on the chassis, eventually some fog would start to develop on the windshield.
