so, I'm getting an e-revo 1/16 brushless kit and have no idea on what batteries i need to get.

i would like a bit of run time when i put 2x2s in parallel and I'm thinking of getting a single 3s for the odd power run and maybe 2 of the stock batteries for when the gf drives it once in a blue moon or when i have no batteries left to run on :p which i guess will be most of the time i take it out unless i break something.

so, i need some cheap/affordable batteries. the traxxas 3s looks good to me, why is the traxxas 2s more expensive? and are there better batteries than these for similar price? what is the main difference between 20c and 40c? are the costs much different and does the performance out way costs if they are higher?

These should work also:
http://www.hobbypartz.com/98p-20c-1200-3s1p-3333-short-asoft.html

These should fit but the thickness is .2mm thicker than the max battery size that I've found posted for the max dimensions of MERV battery try. I'm assuming it would be possible to mod the tray .2mm with a dremel but I've never owned one so I'm not 100% sure if that feasible. these would be awesome if you could make em fit cuz its 1800mah.

Heres an 1800mah that will definitely fit.

I'm assuming that 20C is enough for a MERV....

SPC packs are good quality packs but they cost a little more....if you can afford em you wont regret it :)
The rest of these are pretty good quality....not quite as good as SPC but still totally worth using.

http://www.amainhobbies.com/product...Battery-Pack-w-Traxxas-Connector-111V-1300mAh

and can i run 2x2s in parallel and series on the 1/16 e-revo blrushless version? or just in parallel?
http://www.amainhobbies.com/product...-Poly-Battery-w-Traxxas-Connector-74V-2200mAh

i think there the only bang for buck batteries on amain, i might be better off finding batteries on hobbyking and doing another order for batteries and plugs etc.

i basically want 2x2s and 1x3s and looking to spend like $20ish per battery. any combo suggestions?

Personally I do not like Venoms but some people do. Jang has some charting info for various packs and venoms did not chart very well. I have also owned one once and had bad luck with it so I've never tried them again.

If you want to order from Amain the Losi lipos should be good and seem to have a decent price. like this one http://www.amainhobbies.com/product...-Car-Battery-Pack-74V-1650mAh-Mini-Late-Model
I dont have any experience with the Losi brand lipos but losi generally makes good stuff.

Hobbyking Turnigy packs have been awesome for me, I have four 2s packs, and three 3s packs for the MERV. They also have a warehouse in Australia so shipping wouldn't be bad. Let me get home this evening and I'll post links to the packs.

Also Does the Merv tAke 2s is series as well as parallel? What are run times like?

I'm no electric guru, but I'm 99.9999999% sure that 2s in series will make it 4s, which is 1s over the 3s limit.

Yeh limits are made to be broken :p but I'm wondering if
It limits the power to 3s or something interesting like that?

If I can only run 2s in parallel then I'm cool with that. The run times should be Around 30min as far as I know? And 10-15min on single 3s?

Running in parallel is fine but if your ESC says 3S max I wouldnt attempt to run 4S ( or two 2Ss in series). youll likely end up smoking the ESC. and I would advise the Zippys over the Turnigys if you're gonna order from Hobbyking.

What's wrong with the turnigy? And there are no zippys that will fit. I don't wanna have to chop the battery bay up as soon as I buy it either

This first video is some charting and objective testing between 4 different lipos. The regular Turnigys come in dead last.

This video is Specifically the nano tech Turnigys up against gensacearespammers packs. While they do perform close to gensacearespammers check out what jang has to say about them. Both stuff that hes read online about them repeatedly and about what he experienced personally....The review while appearing at first to be a good review on them ends up being less than spectacular so to speak.

I looked at all of the lipos that Hobby King has and your right I can't find any Zippys or any other lipo on there that will fit. Depending on exactly how much they want for shipping I would consider these. That pack says it fits perfectly in the mini traxxas kits except you have to widen the wire slot slightly to accomdate the larger gauge wires on the pack.

HobbyPartz you can forget about cuz they want as much to ship a battery to AUS as they want for the battery unless theyve opened up the AUS warehouse which they were working on doing awhile back. You may want to check into that.

I also found an Aussie on a forum and this is what he had to say about ordering gensacearespammers batteries from a company in AUS. "powerslideracing.com.au is a gensacearespammers authorised seller, i've bough heaps from them and very good with prices and fantastic to deal with."

I hope some of this info is helpful.

Cheers!

i was getting 30+ minutes on the traxxas stock 3s lipo so you should definately get more with the 2 2s in parallel unless the mah rating is lower.

I run the Venom 3s packs with no problems. If you attempt to run the mERV on 2s in series, you WILL smoke the ESC. I've seen quite a few that have been smoked this way.

Maybe no point in getting the series connector then since I won't have any batteries to put in series.

I'm running Overlanders 1600 mah, 2s, 25c to 35c and they seem fairly good, I don't have anything to compare them with but I haven't had any problems with them yet. As for run time I have them in parallel and I normally manage to brake something before I flatten the batteries but i have a feeling its around the 40-45 min mark.
