what is a good battery pack for the ez start on my t-maxx.??? and where is the best place to buy
thanksd

Check out allbattery.com and go with a nimh pack that is 3000+ mah. The higher the mah, the better, but also more expensive.

A bigger battery helps a lot when using the ez start glow plug heater. But I strongly suggest ditching the blue wire and going with a separate, rechargeable ignitor.

i have had truck a month and have put 3 blue wires on the glow plugs. I am thinkin about ditchin that wire too. can i just unplug it and pull it out of the place where the ez start plugs into ?

Yepper. Just unplug it and wrap it up out of the way. I like to get rid of the blue and yellow wires completely. Just to neatin' up the wiring. Snip them right out of the harness. If you get an ignitor, make sure it's rechargeable and comes with the charger. Most hobby shops have them in a package for around $20. Makes a huge difference starting the truck and lets the ez start battery last a lot longer.

It's the ground for heating the plug. If you take your plug out, hook it up to the blue wire and crank the engine, it won't light. If you do all that while holding the plug against the cylinder head, it will light. The yellow wire completes the circuit. But with a separate ignitor, there's no need for it.

i would ditch the ez start too, go with a roto start or tiger drive system.
i use roto start and wand w/ 18v drill:D

I love the Ezy start system with a glow ignitor...
Have never had a problem with it (yet)
And if one packs in i got a spare off eBey for $8

In saying that 90% of ppl i speak to say ditch the Ezy start...

And my wand battery is 6800mAh and it never dies :)

I agree with you Stevo. The only problems I've had with the ez start were self inflicted.:) Trying to crank a flooded engine lead to a broken motor shaft. It was about 40 degrees out as well. Hell, my buddy hooks his up to a 12 volt battery to start his red dot. Last I heard, he's still using the same setup from over a year ago.

Can you explain the 12 volt set up...???

I'm thinking of getting a .26 Red Dot...

Is that the battery for the ignitor...??

He has an airplane starter box. It looks like an old tool box, storage on either side. It holds a 12 volt battery for powering cone starters for big airplane engines. It has a control panel with a few outlets. He just put the tamyia connector on a 5 foot lead, hooks it into his wand, and damn near engages the clutch.:)

Alternative battery to use on EZ start

Hi i use a ZIPPY Flightmax 2200mAh 2S1P 20C bought at hobbyking.com it is a 7.4 volt battery and works well for me on the EZ start control unit, the one that looks like a wand. I find it very convenient to be able to start and ignite the glow plug of the engine using just one tool. Just a suggestion.

The power delivery of a lipo helps the ez start heater to work better, but 9 out of 10 times, the circuit fails eventually. It's a good idea to have an ignitor handy. Basically, if your engine doesn't start, and all batteries are charged, the glow plug is first suspect. If changing the glow plug doesn't get any results, trying a separate ignitor is the next thing you wanna do.

shark 1500 or no ez at all pull start much less work all u need is a glow igniter 15-20 from towerhobbies
