I have a .40 size O.S. Airplane engine...i was wondering if that could be put on a Stadium Truck or Monster Truck...i know you would probably have to change something on the shaft but I'm only a newbie looking for knowlege... any input would be great!

I'D also like to add to the above that plane engines turn a small propeller and aren't torquey enough to drive a land vehicle.

Could you put a monstor truck motor in a plane that would be sweet it would haul some a$$ or rip apart hehe

I think plane engines and car engines are both ported differently for the applications.

They also are built different and are smaller arent they? I really dont pay attention to planes.

I suppose anything is possible with a cutting torch and a welder lol bend here tweak there I'm sure there would be other problems mabe it would be to heavy and make your plane a dive bomber it would be cool to see though BOOM!

I dont think its worth it. If you want some speed or power just bolt on a nice .28 from nova rossi or wasp. Those get up and go!

Yeah I would go with what .21Rc10GT says I dont know anything about planes at all. If I had a plane I think I would want it as slow as possible so when I crashed it wouldne completley explode in to pieces. I always think it cool to put some type of mill in something it doesn't belong in hehe for instance a 280z with a Chevy 350 ZOOM!

I have a plane. I have yet to fly it! I built it wrong so now its screwed up. I had it for 4 years now, and it hasnt seen outside yet. Need to buy a new plane, i have the engine and electronics.

I would like to get one that would be very cool I was thinking of getting a cheap electric one off ebay that way if I crash it no big deal lol as long and I dont take out a corvette or something like that haha

Actually, once you get the hang of flying a plane, flying slow is the most boring thing you could do.

Usually at the speeds you fly, if you hit something, there's gonna be some damage. I think between me and my dad, we've each totalled at least 1 plane each. My dad totalled our first plane the day after I got solo certified.

Anyhoo, back on topic. The problems with airplane engines is the porting is TOTALLY different, the cooling head is a lot smaller on planes since they have continuous air going through it, also, the crankshafts are different which makes clutch assembly installation a total BITCH.

To put it plain and simple, unless you have extensive knowledge on engine design, and have accept to a CNC machine, don't bother. It won't be remotely cheap to do it, and the gains would be questionable.

i agree...and i also agree that slow planes are very very boring...but it also depends on your mood, dont you think?

Yeah I just thought it would be a great way for a newbie to plane like me lol I would perfer a jet powered plane if they even make one that would be sweet!!!! I just thought if I was to get a electric one that was slow I could learn to control it then I could move on later to somthing faster, I probally wont even get a plane at least not anytime soon I've kind of caught the truck/buggy bug. More opstacles on the ground to play on :). Knowing my luck some hillbilly around here would take out his 12 guage shot gun and blast it down thinking its a goose or somthing haha there are alot of goose hunters around my area. Mabe I could add some roman candles to it and shoot back lol run the geese are fighting back!!

Well if you're learning to fly, a slow plane is good for that kind of stuff. Just make sure it's a durable one.

Jets are one of the most, if not the hardest planes to fly. It will take YEARS of flying before someone is ready to fly one. Well, unless you're talking about the ducted fans and not the turbines.

I diddnt know if they even make jet rc,s I could imagine how hard it would be to control something that fast.

i think that it would be cool to get a four stroke .40, supercharge it and make a rock crawler that can prctically climb walls
