With my T-maxx 2.5 I've been having carburetor problems that I have finally fixed, the only problem is now that after I have fixed the carburetor, I go to crank it up and it wont start, it tries to and sounds fine, but just won't ignite. It CONSTANTLY floods and will NEVER start so I just have absolutely no idea what to do. The engine sounds great and it doesn't sound messed up in any way. after trying to crank it up about 3 times or so i turn it over to see if any fuel is coming out the exhaust, and every time there is ALWAYS fuel coming out and when i take the spark plug out to check if it is flooded, it ALWAYS is. I'm not sure what I should do to get it to run, please help soon!! :help:

how rich are you running it? it sounds like you may want to lean it a bit so that less fuel is going into the engine before you get it running enough to burn it all off. what's the temperature like where you live right now? if it's cold out, like around or below 40, you may want to think about warming up the engine head before starting it. cold starts have a tendency to lead to flooding as well. fool it into thinking it's been running and you may get it running quicker and keep the temps up. once you get it running try not tuning it until it comes up to it's running temp and see how things go from there. another thing i've seen people do is loosen the glow plug a slight bit and then once it gets started and stays running tighten it up. i've never done this but, i've seen it work for others, especially on cold days... try to lean it more first though.

how do i lean it?
And the temperature here is around 40-50 up to the 60s and 70s, but it stays around 40-50.

well I've run my new maxx alot under 40 and you have to start it and just keep it moving dont let it sit there or it will just flood and cut out

yeah i've figured that out around the time that I got it, I need to know how I could lean it, or if anyone has any other advice on what to do, I'm happy to listen and try out whatever you think I need to do. :help:

Someones already told me to lean it, But i have NO IDEA how to lean it, can you tell me how to lean it??

Turn the HSN to the right, or is it left, hell i dont remember, turn the HSN one way or the other and see what happenes.

in = clockwise? or in = counter-clockwise? I'm not the most experienced with this kinda thing, so which way do i turn it, clockwise or counter-clockwise?

Think of the high speed needle as a clock. if you go clockwise, you are adding more time to the clock so more fuel to the mixture. turn the high speed needle counterclockwise a couple turns till it runs and tune it from there. unless I have it backwerds and yeah, i don't even know anymore. lol.

Just like alpine said, clockwise, think of it like a water valve, out lets more water in and in let less water in. In this case water would be fuel. Rich equals more Fuel and Lean equals less fuel. I suggest you read the sticky in General RC Nitro talk section on tuning an engine, and get a temp gun. Becuase, if you lean it too far, it will overheat and burn up the engine. Try kepping the temps under 270 or 280.

Alright, thanks so much for the help, I'll be sure to try it tomorrow or whenever i get the time. Thanks, Austin

What I would do is this :

First pull the glow plug and hook your igniter to it. Make sure it glows bright and leave it on for few seconds to burn off all the extra fuel. (Keep fingers off the center coil so you don't get burned.

Then pull the fuel line loose from the carb and crank the engine over a few times to blow out the extra fuel.(Don't look directly into the glow plug hole so you son't get psrayed in the face with fuel)

Next reinstall the glow plug, leave the fuel line loose. Turn on the radio and reciever and make sure the throttle is working. Pull the air filter so you can see what it doing.

Adjust the throttle trim on the transmitter to open the carb as much as it will. Watch to see which way the knob works, after it starts you will need to return the trim to the neutral position. Then prop the truck up so the wheels are off the ground.

Now reattach the fuel line and hook up the ignitor. Hold the throttle wide open or have someone else help you do it. Try to start it and be ready or make sure whoever is helping you is ready to let off the throttle when it starts. DO NOT HOLD IT AT FULL THROTTLE!

If you have compression it should start. You can work the throttle to keep it running if necessary and make adjustments to get it to stay running on its own. Remember to back off the trim on the radio as it warms up and stays running. It will probably die a couple of times but after the first start it should get easier and you can figure out what it wants/needs to run right.

Try it and let me know what happens.

Alright I'm back, I did everything you said to do word for word, only thing I did different was I got a hair dryer and heated up the engine head to get it to crank, because it just couldn't by itself, I got it running and it sounds better than EVER, It's running excellent and I couldn't be happier!! Thank you sooooo much for all your help Racer, And everyone else, This just made my day!! :D

Hey, I didn't like my name for my other account, so I made this one, And yeah thanks for the help :)
