Connectivity issues, ARGHHHHH! Anyone else.

Since yesterday my connection here at home has just been terrible. I just got off the phone with some poor bastard that was on the recieving end of one of my very eliquent tyraids (poor guy) but he said he couldn't see what the problem was and I had probably changed something on my computer. I've done several speedtests from all three of my home PC's and they are showing speeds of over 4 Mbps. However webpages are so slow to load or they don't load at all. I'm going crazy and of course it's too late to talk to someone who knows what the hell they are doing. Just wondering if anyone else was experiencing issues with Road Runner or in general. I'm telling you, this is just frustrating.

Jet, the news out here has been full of stories like yours. Apparently, yesterday and today are the two busiest internet shopping days of the year. I had a hard time even opening my home page the past two days.

There is something going on out there....
I was dealing with Network Solutions yesterday and was having issues with their site. When I called, they were having issues with slow pages as well. I have also had calls about my site as well. People stalling out.

To many sites to be a local issue.....

Thanks, I knew it wasn't just me but too late to call a neighbor and say is your internet working? He'd a been like, I'm sleeping, so should you, quit looking at porn! I just get aggravated with Road Runner sometimes cause they never admit when there is problem either on their end or throughout. At least their tech support is still in the states and not New Dehli or Bangladesh. Biggest problem with the slowdown is my wife works from home and it affects her for work too. Sorry, before you jump to anything it's not a live webcam sex show! LOL Thanks again fellas!

Update

Hmmmm, another call this morning. Try this...I already did...try that...I already did, but to appease you I'll do it again. Hmmm, wow, now my speedtest was 30Kbps, thanks for the tip wisenheimer. Unplug the router...ok but I'll lose you since we are VoIP. Run straight through the modem to one PC, still slow. Check a few web pages out, slow, but speedtest comes back up. All of a sudden, Bam, it was like I was shot out of a cannon. Plug into another PC, speed is there. Back into the router and speed remained. Wow, another nothing is wrong on our end Road Runner call and it mysteriously gets fixed, just like that. Dammit, just admit your wrong RR!

Are these sites you visit a lot or just random places? If you vist them a lot and they load slow there may be a problem

If they are random sites that slow you just might have a full cache or something of the likes.

No usual sites, the other problem was my wife logging in for work. The connection was so bad, citrix wouldn't connect. All better now...or at least for the time being.

I'm on satellite. It snowed for 2 days. Which puts my fat ass out in the snow with a broom trying to dust off the dish without a) falling on said fat ass, b) freezing balls or fingers off, or c) bumping the dish out of alignment so it has to be re-pointed.

Anyway when things get slow - if you're on Internet Destroyer, try Tools->Internet Options->Advanced -> HTTP 1.1 settings, click use HTTP 1.1, restart the browser and see if it helps.

However I have it from my admin buddies at my local ISP that there has been a massive rise in spam and virii floating around this week due to the latest worms going about. When will people learn, DON'T CLICK THE ATTACHMENT! (nudges WoodiE . . . )

I noticed Ebays been finicky lately. When I go to my ebay and try to sell stuff 90% of the time I get "Page could not be displayed". I figured it was due to heavy traffic on there for the holidays.. I dunno..

She works for one of the hospitals here. I've never really paid to much attention but she has like three different log ins she has to do just to get in. We also use Citrix for the home office with my job, however all we really are with them is e-mail, aviation is broke off to a seperate company, kinda like the bastard step child with bad hair!
