Now I'm a NOOB to nitro so bear with me. I JUST bought a tmaxx 2.5 about a week ago (nib). Broke the engine in per traxxas. I tunned the HSN, thenwent for the LSN and then idle.
My carburetor slide (5233) to carburetor body (5234) doesn't really slide. After i took it apart and cleaned everything very well i put the slide back in and it had grag. I put thte boot and spring on and i still can't get it to close all the way for the idle needel to do its job (5241). When i put the throttle arm on (5243) with the slide carb linkage set (5168) it makes it even worse. It wont return home. I dissconnected the slide carb linkage bellcrank post (5167) to make sure it wasn't the problem, but i have big time grag

Now I'm new so i dont know, does it it has a break in time? From what I've seen/ felt. i would say that the hole for the carb slide, it is a little out of round. the slide can bind as it returns

Any guesses would be great
thanks

A carb should be smooth out of the box and doesn't require a break-in like the piston & cylinder.

I'll just throw out some thoughts.
A new carbs slide boot is nice and tight and when you close it, they can compress the air inside them and then bounce back (push the slide back out). There's no friction, just a nice bounce back. That's fine.

Are you feeling friction as you close the slide when it's not conected to the linkage?
If so - and since you've already torn it apart and cleaned it out - could you have adjusted the LSN (in) to the point where it's ramming itself too far into 5241 and causing the "grag"?
Also, you could unscrew the idle screw a bit to see if that is the cause. Maybe the screw or slide have rough spots.

Do you feel more friction as you close the slide when it is conected to the linkage?
If so, this can often be fixed by adjusting the way the carb is sitting in the engine and the angle that it sits towards the linkages bellcrank. To alter this, loosen the silver nut on the side of the engine and shift the carb left or right to see if it gets better and then tighten the nut.

Otherwise, I think that I'd contact Traxxas' customer support.

I've had a couple new carbs that stuck a little, try removing the carb, and spraying the inside with wd-40 while it closed and opened fully, then work it back and forth a few times to see if it feels better.

Thanks for the reply. When i took everthing agart and cleaned, then put it back together i went one peice at a time, cause i thought about that. my slide will return to close about half way before it gets stuck by hand...its even worse when i was using my linkage. You came up with the same thought i did. i think this one will be pawnd off to traxxas
thanks

Is there an idle screw slot in your carb slide? If so...you need to make sure the idle screw goes into it properly or you will have binding on the slide. I did this when I got my first rig too....

The carb and/or ball that the linkage pops onto is most likely out of whack a little. You may need to twist the carb and/or adjust the ball up or down some. Put a drop of fuel on it to lube it.

Thanks for the input . i ran down to the hobby shop and picked up another body and slide. They feel alot better then my 8 day old carb/slide. Real smooth, no binding. So I'm gonna run with this and get ahold of traxxas. Maybe I'll get a new one.
thanks

Traxxas may send you one. Then you'll have a spare carb. Glad your up and running. Remember to use a little bit of rtv on the carb seal. Sensor-safe, high-temp copper is the rtv of choice around here.:)
