Carb rebuild kit or replacement?

So i believe i fixed my 4wd issues, i did find a backed out set screw. I then removed both and blue lock tighted them.

Now all 4 spin if both front spin or both rear spin. While i was in therei greased the dog bones for the transfer case.

But i do feel a bit of drag, it when i spin both front or rear tires engaging the 4wd not as smooth as i thought it would feel but i never paid attention to it before.

Not sure if its a problem, tomorrow ill try it out.
Follow the differential tests I posted in my reply, this will check each diff for wear or damage.

So the 4wd seems to work good, it drove well.

It was a pain to get it started but may e thats because I'm cheap and tried to mix some of my old fuel in with my new fuel, trying not to waste the old fuel... Inly like a 1/4 old to 3/4 new. Maybe i should have diluted it more lol

Anyways its hard to start, not sureif its because it was like 90 degrees today abd like 80%humidity. I also put a new glow plug in it, its a medium temp range and I'm using the higher percentage traxxas nitro fuel, i believe its 33%.

It was a pain to start it, and I'm pull start too, i had the trim cranked for the carb to hold it open and even sometimes had to go further and use mt throttle trigger, even going WOT just to get it to start again, and mind you this was with the engine warm, may have stalled or refueled.

I need to get some of that engine sealant for the carb. Not sureif that will make a huge difference abd i wont have random stalls or trouble starting.

I did have fun today though

This was my old plug but i feel like it started easier than my new one. Not sure of the heat range on it though

That Old plug looks rusty to me. Does your glow igniter make the plug glow bright red/white hot? Then check the fuel system, refer to my post to see how to do this.

Are you priming the engine ,an at what point does your engine stall during your run?
Yeah i prime the engine, it sucks because the fuel hose i got for replacement is not clear so i can't see the fuel in the hose.

Seems like i need to increase the idle as well, because sometimes when i brake it seems to dip low and made me nervous about stalling, i feel like the idle is open enough visually but i guess i might have to increase it still.

It seems to stall sometimes out of no where.

Is there a glow plug that generally makes it easier to start and keep running?

You might want to adjust the linkage so that the carb doesn't close when you apply the brakes instead of messing with the idle.

He might want to read that long post I made because I mentioned this in there...

2000th post. Exciting.

Sometimes its a combination of both when it it comes to tuning a carb.!
That's why I asked at what point does the stall begin ,because there is such a thing called lean bog.
If the engine revs high an quits ,then that means its too lean on throttle!
When you apply brakes an the engine quits ,its just the idle set screw that needs adjusted!

We need to know those vital details to isolate your problem!...

The old fuel should be disposed of. That isn't doing you any favors. The way you've described the issues, esp if you followed what ninnon posted seems like an air leak to me. Obvious problems lie in diagnosing on-line. Either way, I'm glad you got it to drive right again. Def glad to hear you're having fun!

Fuel can last 20 years depending on the environment its kept in ,idlely in a cool dark place that the temps are consistant!
Another thing ,traxxas fuel is CACCA to begin with!

There is a thousand things on what can cause a nitro engine to not run good!

Its actually because if my remote i have the throttle trim up a little to get the idle up a little because i was nervous that once i got it started and then went to put the body on, by the time i get the clips on too it would stall.

I'm gonna take a picture of the throttle idle position, which i believe should be enough to make it idle happily but like i said I'm finding more luck by increasing the idle with the trim, so maybe i just need to set it higher unless my low speed needle could be off? But i dont believe my carb has a low speed needle, i believe it only has a HSN.

Ahh ,The loaded up bog!...:D
Tipicly when the engine sits an idles too long ,an loads up with fuel.

But not sure if it was kust the hot humid weather but after i ran it and it stalled, it was such a pain to start, I'm talking pull start.

I actually had to use my remote to go WOT to get ut to start even when worm.

Hows that for idle gap?

Hows the compression feel when you try to start it ,does it feel weak or do you feel some resistance?
I asked because you shouldn't have to open the throttle upon starting an that's an indication that
the engine has no compression.
You might be do for a new engine!...

Just HSN

Its got a little resistance not super hard, its a .15fe engine so smaller but I'm sure its a bit tired.

Not sure what i could put in its place, what up grades are available, i currently only have one speed tranny.

So not sure if the diffs are strong enough for a bigger motor.

I'm quite sure its strong enough for a little bit more!

An sometimes you can catch these go engines under 50 bucks if you don't mind the wait from
it coming from another country!..

Oh,its a buy it now price for $ 36.00 bucks ,an it has the old style carb. on it so you don't need
no mods on the Go engine!

I dont mind what manufacturer makes the motor, but something that has some power would be nice, I'm also thinking a 2speed tranny upgrade would be nice

Those engines were on e-bay.
At one time I had a 2 spd for the mt ,sometimes you can catch those parts on ebay where someone
is getting rid of ,like parts cars.

Do you know what needs to be done to swap in the 2spd tranny?
