I have already put three reverse gears in my revo. I am aware that these broken gears are my fault (accidentally switching into reverse while hauling butt). Also have replaced the input gear. I am looking for a whole gear set in any type of metal, or an aftermarket tranny with metal gears. Please help thanks everyone.

A forward only conversion will fix your problem for about $10. Robinson Racing steel gears go for about $100. Foc makes your tranny much stronger and eliminates a lot of rotating mass.

Yeah I'm trying to keep my reverse because it is so handy.. But, if the metal gears are gonna break the bank the I guess I will do the foc. Or just keep replacing them. Do the robinson gears come as a set or individual?

You might be able to do a conversion to put the opti-drive in and keep the plastic gears... people are going to tell you that the opti drive stuff is junk, but I've had absolutely no problems with it

I dont see why he couldnt put the opti drive in. It just intercepts the signal before it goes to the servo.

Does the opti drive not allow the trans to shift into reverse at high speeds? Or what exactly is its purpose?

Yeah, the OptiDrive module is designed to prevent the transmission from changing direction while the vehicle is in motion.
I have one Revo with OptiDrive (and reverse) & one set-up as forward only (no OptiDrive).

The only issues I've had with the OptiDrive were self-inflicted.
If you change the transmitters throttle trim adjustment or the throttle neutral switch (the 50/50 or 70/30 dealyo) or if you change the position of any of the servo reversing switches, then you have to reprogram the OptiDrive.

That sounds like the best plan of action. And the other stripped gear was from jumping with the slipper clutch WAY too tight. I'm just trying to keep this thing from staying broke all the time. Easier said than done... Thanks for the help guys!
