I've been using the HSP one for about a year now, still works fine, and ran dynamite ones previously, all do the job just fine.

Yeah I've got a glow plug igniter ordered, but what gives the engine the spark when you take the igniter away? That's what I'm confused about..

The coil in the glowplug retains heat as combustion occurs and there's a catalytic reaction between the platinum on the coil and the methanol in the fuel. Once running, those two sustain ignition without the heater attached.
