YESS!! This!! each has its forte' but with those 3 pieces of machinery you can pretty much build anything you can imagine that will fit on the machinery.. Back when I was machining my cars on my mill I bought my first printer to only make wheels for my cars.. cut to a few years later and the only things machined on one of my cars is the motor plate,LOL
It makes me pretty sad to sit in my apartment, knowing the things I could be making in a CNC mill if I could have one. I wish we had a maker space here. I would do whatever I could to donate a mill to them so I could go there and teach my kiddo how to use it.

What kind of machine work did you do? I started out in woodworking, then moved to an aerospace shop making parts for GE and Pratt Whitney. I then moved into prototype machining, mostly manual at first, but we followed a part from raw forging to finished part, which most ended up on the CNC at some point. I then went into the racing scene for 8 years, then finished my career in aerospace 4 years after that.

Here is a small sampling of some of the parts I made, along with some of my favorite co-workers lol.

Makes me sad too cuz I'm sitting here thinking of all of the the thing I could go "Hey Kev, can you make me one of these?!" 🤣

If you want go different level do your research and design plan I have many others I can show even a real pedal car/drag car with shifter cart tub rear on custom suspension. Rat rod poop

Maybe my land lords would have hated me more. But this and a dust buster and some newpaper? Idk. I try anything

ele ELEOPTION Metal Mini Milling Machine DIY Tool Benchtop Wood Lathe Woodworking for Hobby Science Education Modelmaking AC100V~240V https://a.co/d/74fPf8A

Its small. And i have very little experience. But got some brass and plan on playing, learning, wasting money and time. But there are worse things i could do.

I’m a machinist and run a few machining centers at work. Been doing it for 37years. For my hobby stuff I have a brigeport, Southbend lathe, sander, and an old Rockwell bandsaw in my garage. CNC’s are far too expensive to tool and maintain for just messing around. There’s some small benchtop enco ones you can find at tech school auctions and such which would be nice for hobby stuff but you still need the drivers and software.

I would really like a cnc router for cutting carbon fiber panels but haven’t taken the plunge. I just us my mill and a swivel vise.

Just beautiful man. Great work. I've been using dremel and different work RD supplies. Sort of work in electronics/computers. I got boss to buy a $5000 mcmaster-carr milling mchine once but could barely make part 1. (Was supposed to machine titanium dead bolts prototype for remotely locking semi doors (failed project). But yeah mostly dremel and soldering iron. You can see some of my handy work in carbon fiber in my old photos of the rc18. Nothing as beautiful as yours but i like to think end result “worked”. Yeah i used to call myself “king of the sh**-show” self depreciatingly.

I do wanna say to all you guys with skill, patience, time and money. You have some INSANE rcs. I'm just an old goofball whos parents didnt get him an rc and now hes making up for it. Also I'm just kinda silly when it comes to things on wheels. Job, kid, life took me in a direction away from fun. But now empty nest I'm back and childish as ever. Also. Please dont take offense to my frankenstein creations or attitude. Just trying to be light hearted and show off what i think is cool and proud of. Your creations are just….. the crap i wish i could do!!

Have a great day guys!

Desktop routers are a nice option. I was doing these on my first desktop CNC machine out of G-10. machine was only $600. Software to run it cost me $800 for a license on 1 machine (Bob cad/cam), but I have had my own cad cam software at home for 15 years now .. THAT was the best $800 I have ever spent as I still use that software almost daily. Is it as nice as the fullblown autocad we had at work? nope. But for what I paid , and what I have been able to do with it over the last 15 years with NO yearly license to pay- totally happy with it..

I read the reviews on it, and most said they were surprised how small it actually is.

Time to get etch-a-sketching lol
Yeah read dimensions. But in my head i thought it would be comparable to the 3d printer.

Looks pretty though. Do you have a link to it?
