On the Savage X is it really possible to get the diff out without taking it out of the truck? I removed the whole thing and can't get the case apart.

Also i was running around like i normally do on pavement. What would cause the diff to fail? Truck has the 4.6 and i installed the 3 speed

The Big Joes, pavement, too tight of a slipper adjustment and loose gear mesh in the diff are all likely causes. Bigger/heavier than stock tires wreak havoc on driveline components.

I snapped the teeth off my diff gears driving in sand! If you have a manual it will show you how to remove the diff by taking out only 6 screws on the diff case.

Well come to find out, i was blind that night, it was in the drive cup on the back of the transmission. That freaking impossible to find anywhere but online screw came out. But i am really wanting to try to get that diff apart by taking out those screws. I do have a manual, it still doesn't seem quite like it will work, but gonna give it a shot

Well, it worked like a charm. A lot easier to do when its in the truck. All that work tearing the truck down for nothing but it did give me a good chance to clean it up really well.
