I have some friends who want to build some boats to battle one another on the water. These are low budget affairs but has anyone else thought about r/c wars like what they do on the brit channel? I was thinking roman candles stuck in some foam with a timed igniter would work fine. Also some torpedos with impact igniters as well. Any ideas on how to set up some firepower within reason "as in" not to dangerous?

you said "not too dangerous". but you including roman candles and TORPEDOS!! i wish i had a sugjestion for you, but I'm just cleaned out.. you could alway rent some jet ski's and go on the lake with a couple of paint ball guns

We are going to destroy each others boats in this melee! I do not want to use rockets as that would be too much danger.

oh that would be fun. Or maybe platgof, you could get one guy to drive around as you throw cherry bombs at it. Or, hook up some screamers on the sides, get really close and have a servo attatched to a wooden match which is on the side of the box that lights the match. then when the servo turns, the match is lighted, the screamer goes off and burns the other boats foam. Then he is open to bash attacks. maybe a 3 inch nail on the front so when you ram it, it punches a hole. If you need ideas, PM me. I have done this with cars on an abandoned air strip. Man was it fun. especially if you missed and the fireworks shoot up into the air.

A bunch of old canoes or inflatable rafts and a couple of 12 gauge double barrels would entertain you for a minute or two.
Do a search. I saw a lot of video clips of water battles till they sink. I'm not sure, but I think the ammo was air powered BBs.

I want it to stay small so a smaller water source can be used and not attract to much attention at first. I am going to pass on the shotgun shells for now. How about a flame thrower of some sort?

you could get the top screwed off a paintball c02 cartrige. put about half gasoline it in and then pressurize it with oxygen. Then hook a servo up to a match and the same servo up to a valve that opens the mixture. the match would light it and spray flaming gasoline everywhere. just point the canister.
