I have been thinking of getting a Baja, but I never decided to take to leap.
Well, now I think is as good of a time as any so I soon will be putting my order in for a baja ss.

I have been researching a bit, watching a bit and drooling a lot, but I need some advice.

I know there are some mods or parts that are Highly recommended for the RTR, but what about the SS?

What parts should be on my first order?
I know about the shock, air filter, pullstart cover and the dry lube thing in the pull start, but is there any thing else?

How is the stock 26CC and the stock pipe?

I see these videos of Bajas doing wheelies all the time, is there a way to get any where near that much power without spending to much cash and still having good top end speed?

How strong of a servo do I need for throttle/brake?
I have a 645MG laying around but it will probably be to weak right?

I have my spektrum radio I will swap until I get another receiver.
So I think I'm all set right?

If any one sees any thing that I missed please let me know!

Thank you Very much for your help!

Edit: I've also heard about the "missing bearing" what size is it and what brand would be a good one to get?

I can tell you from my own experience, I didn't realize how incredible of a machine this would be but it's truly amazing. I tried and tried to get a list of mods to do and everyone kept telling me to wait and buy parts as I need them and now I see why. This thing is so bad, there's not much that a person really NEEDS, it's usually just wants, so you'll want to order most of your parts as you go. Some weak spots seem to be the shock shafts, (although they are better than the RTR version) and the rear tires. Everyone eventually has problems with the rear tires. Proline makes a set of badlands that supposedly doesn't shred and Hostile Hobbies makes the best tires out there according to many people, I have the badlands but haven't run them yet. You diefinitely want to get the Outerwears covers like you mentioned. The stock pipe that comes with the SS is an incredible pipe, and really loud, so I would wait and see how you like it before ordering one. It produces a pretty good bit of power. As for producing a lot more power, you can use an engine kit from someone like Dave's Discount Motor's to get it up to 28.5, and maybe even 30.5 CC. You can also buy the whole engine if you don't want to work on it, but it seems pretty straight forward and it's way cheaper. I think the engine kit starts around $70. I had an extra 645 MG servo as well, so I decided to try it so I didn't have to wait on the order to get mine going, and it's doing quite well. Eventually I may switch over to a bigger one, but it's doing just fine for now. The only difference in that and a bigger one will probably be in the pulling of the brakes, and a veteran on the sister forum hpibajaforum.com was tellin someone of a $26 mod to the brakes that will help them work great with a smaller servo. For the bearings, Fast Eddy seems to have the best quality for the least price. I just got a set of his pro bearings and the quality was amazing. You can get those as Dave's Discount Motors as well. Dave's is a great site with great customer service, I just got done placing my third order and my 5B SS has only been running 4 days. You will also need a rather large receiver battery because these things have such a long run time, and Dave's has a 4500 for 45 bucks. I just got one a few days ago, excellent quality. I'm no veteran with the baja, but I have built one and done some research so if I can help with anything else you're welcome to PM me with questions.

WOW.
I really don't know what else to say but wow and thank you Very much!

The engine kit is much cheaper then I thought, and the screw kit and full set of beariings seem to be the way to go!

I really can't tell you how much this helped, but thank you very much!

Check out hpibajaforum.com when you get a chance.

Tons of good information and most, if not all of the independent hop-up manufacturers frequent and support the site.

I will go sign up now!
Thanks rob mob!

Guess I already did signup before? I will have to take a look around!
