as soon as i release the throttle it jumps out of gear i think. the clutch bell and slipper gear spin keep spinning even at idle, if i stop the slipper gear with my finger , it will go back into gear. when it goes out of gear the rpms of motor increase in idle:angry:

The clutch springs on the Speed NT are junk, you'll need to take it out, snip off the connecting rings and make new ones to tighten up the spring. M2C makes a 3-shoe clutch that is a good replacement.

And wrong forum, this should be in the Stadium Truck forum.

but if the clutch bell and slipper gear are spinning, why wouldnt the tires turn? gears inside of tranny look brand new

Have you adjusted your shift point at all?

no ididnt, should i? this problem started right out of the box christmas day.drove 15 feet and let go of throttle and it wouldnt move. turned it off, tried again ,same thing. called horizon they said open tranny for somthing wrong with gears but theyre good. put back together try again this time clutch spring broke. replaced, tried again ,still wont stay in gear. if i drive in my garage its good,if I'm on thstreet where i can open it up a bit it gets really bad, especially if i spin out.

Out of the box??? So you didn't break in the engine properly? A proper break-in and tune are essential to correct shift points. And an RTR has to be inspected for loose screws, and other problems. The Hi-gear clutch could be out of adjustment too.

ok, i tried my car again today to try seeing exactly what happens when it goes out of gear. if i stay in first it will drive forever, if i rev it and spin tires or open it up ill let go of throttle, press throttle again and its out of gear. the clutch bell and slipper gear are spinning. the shaft coming out the break is not turning.i took off rubber plug to see inside high speed cluth adjuster on top of the transmission. the bell is spinning but the clutch itself is not. the tires are not turning. this is all happening during idle. ill touch the slipper gear with my finger to stop it from spinning, then its back in gear.

Take the trans case apart and inspect all of the pieces very closely. take pictures if you have to.

You are not the only one with this problem. It is an easy fix. All you have to do is take apart the transmission. When rebuilding it all you need to do is add a couple more shims onto the spot where there is only 1. Adding these will keep the transmission in gear all the time. If you don't get this explanation just message me and ill give a more detailed description

I took my transmission apart and there is only one place where i found shims and they are on the center shaft and mine is doing the same thing losi said my one way bearing could be bed

There should be shims on every shaft, on both sides too.

Thanks alien13 last night i tore down my sons speed nt which works fine and has never been apart and found only 5 shims on the center shaft, only on one end of it and no shims anywhere else, same as mine but mine wont stay in gear, when i call losi support they say they havent workrd on them in a long time and "can't remember" where the shims need to be, any suggestions? Thanks gatorfred

The SNT is a prime example of the RTR rule. Ready To Repair. I fried numerous gears before Losi sent me all the parts to build a new transmission. Remember, RTRs are built by people. People who don't like to work on Mondays and Fridays, and it seems that most of our RTRs have been built either Monday morning, or Friday afternoon!

i sent my speed nt back to horizon hobbie for warranty. they said they fixed the problem with it not staying in gear. they said it was the one way bearing. but they tried it more and the transmission seized up on it. they werent sure why that happened. the manager called me and told me if i want they will figure it out and get it running but that car is discontinued and offered me this, either a losi aftershock, a traxxis rustler, or i could send $50 dollars and get a losi T ten. i'm not sure what to do, so if u guys know whats the best deal?

Discontinued already? Wow!

Well, it's really up to you as far as the trade is concerned. The Aftershock shares most of it's parts with the LST, and it's a good 1/8 scale monster truck. If you want to stick with the 1/10 scale stadium truck, then you could take the Rustler, and the Ten-T is a 4wd 1/10 truggy, and it has it's share of problems too. I'd probably take the Aftershock, given the option.
