Just curious, How many of you had to attend a bow hunters safety class? Here in Louisiana it is required if you hunt on federal wildlife management area, but not on state or private land. What does your state require?

Just call your local wildlife and fisheries office, they should have all the info you need.

All state's have a DNR website, and on the federal level as well. I took a couple of classes over the years. Once when I was about 7 and then again when I was about 18. The second class I took was a bowhunters safety course and I looked into becoming an instructor. However once I completed that course they gave you nothing as far as a cert or whatever else.

That's funny, we got a bow hunters safety card after we completed our class.

here in PA if i am not mistaken you can take a extra course for archery safety but it is not manditory to be taken to hunt with a bow ,
should be cause i still see jackass's up tree's hunting with out saftey harness's strapped on .
i mean come on what are these guys thinking .i wrong move and your on your back from a 30ft fall
so remeber if your going up a tree hunting whether it be rifle or archery ,ALWAYS wear a safety belt please ,

I am a bowhunter above all other interests!!! RC is fun and all, but nothing holds a candle to bowhunting.

Even though this thread is a few years old, I just had to respond!

BTW, get a Ross Cardiac!! Best stick ever!! And I don't get any sponsorship from them. And, I've owned and shot about every manufacturers stick out there (Mathews, Hoyt, Bowtech, Parker, et al).

I have a Hoyt Vectrix XL and love it.. It's super quiet and very powerful.. I was accurately hitting a 3D target with broadheads at 70 yards.
This was the first season I went up with my bow, and I took a high shot on a large doe.. The adrenalin just got me shakin too much. Win some, lose some....

Yeah, but you did manage to plug that squirrel you big he man hunter you.
