Okay, so I think I might be almost ready to run my new savage x 4.6 this coming weekend. I have a glow plug ignitor and charger, tool set, and fuel bottle. I have on order a HPI hump pack 6v 1200mah battery and charger, and a fuel filter. I just need to drive to my local hobby shop for a gallon of fuel and a couple of glow plugs. I plan to use my cordless drill for a starter instead of the starter pack. Any input and advice is greatly appreciated as I get ready to run a nitro truck for the very first time!

Also, it says on the manual to run the first tank of fuel with the tires off the ground. So I just kinda idle it with the wheels off the ground till it burns a tank? Thanks.

The only thing I see missing on your list is a temp gun. Very useful at break in and later for tuning.

Yes, if you follow the book then you will idle a tank through with the wheels off the ground. The idle will probably have to be high enough that the wheels will spin. You may also need to blip the throttle occasionally to clear it out and keep it from stalling.

I personally don't like just idleing like that. I use a slight variation on the Heat Cycle method found here.

Any particular recommendations? I can get an HPI temp gun on ebay for like 28-30 shipped.
