I have a nitro rustler 2.5. I hate buying new rims everytime i need to buy new tires. Does anybody have aluminum rims out there. If so, are they reusable. Does anybody have any issues with using aluminum. ie..rims, shock towers, and are they worth it. What are the pros and cons. RDracingproducts.com makes aluminum parts for Traxxas products.

I dont have a rustler, but why do you have to buy new rims everytime you get new tires? I can always break the bead on my rims and replace the tires quite easily with plastic rims. I dont know if you can do this with the rustler or not, (maybe its specially attached to the tire) but on my t-maxx which is also traxxas, I can replace the tires.

If you are having problems replacing tires on rims, then odds are you are using too much CA glue to secure your tire to the rim. You should only need like six to eight ecenly spaced drops of CA glue to secure the tire to the rim. Anything more, and you are making your own life difficult come replacement time.

As for Aluminum rims, they are out there. They cost a lot more than the plastic rims. And they have the same issues come replacement time (if you use too much glue). I'll get some links and post them.

Johhnie I have to wonder if you are having this issue with a 2.5 which has only been out a month or so. Are you running the correct tire for the correct type of terain. Sounds to me like you are running a hole shot or something on the street which would eat them up. As for the tires as long as you dont have crome NC hit the nail on the head you should be able to boil off the tires. The aluminum wheels have the advange of being able to boil and know they wont get hurt. They also don't brake "as Much" as plastic but they can break or even worse get bent so those are things to consider. X
