does any one know if after run is ok to do with wd-40 cause it says it in the traxxas manual but the guy at my lhs says its not good to use
 
i use wd-40 all the time. you can use it, your LHS just wants to sell you after run oil!
 
X2, been using WD40 before I even knew about after run oil lol. Yet again another hobby shop out to steal a dollar...
 
Yeah same here. Read about using WD40 in the Tmaxx manual before I ever new about after run oil. So that is what I use, WD40. Traxxas wouldn't recommend using this if it didnt work with there engines. The fuel that I use (Sidewinder - Backyard Basher) says that it has ARO mixed in to it already as well. My LHS says to use WD40 also, I'm lucky, the guy at my LHS doesn't BS me....
 
i thought that it was a bit strange that traxxas would put it in their manual if it was no good for the engine the guy told me that wd-40 has salt in it which corrodes metal stupid peepee-head lol
 
Salt, really? WD stands for Water displacement, so how would it corrode metal? He's really tryin to work ya to buy some after run oil from him isn't he. Is your lhs not a very busy one?lol

yeh they are very well known and always seem busy but they do seem like they don't want you to do anything yourself either like if you order parts from them they try and talk you out of doing it yourself so i just order all my parts online now i only used to go there because thats where i bought my truck
 
They try to talk you out of doing the work yourself?!?! I have NEVER brought my truck to the guys at the lhs! They charge you $30 an hour and you wont ever learn to do the stuff yourself. I have even gone as far as calling the LHS just for advice on what to buy and what are some of the best ways to install a certain part...and they are happy to help! Anyways, I think a good baseline to use would be recommendations stated by the manufacturer themselves, seeing as they built these things, they should know what they are talking about. If the manufacturer gave poor advice and you fried your motor or destroyed something else on the truck, you probably wouldn't buy that brand again!
 
i know as i say i don't use them any more only to buy nitro, i also bought my son a stampede xl-5 for christmas from there which never worked properly so i took it there twice over the christmas period they said come back in the new year its probably the battery pack but it was the motor they tried to blame me so they changed it then tried to charge me for it so i hold on it was like that when i bought it and eventually he let it go
 
I have a LHS thats the same way, no greeting or need any help questions, just sit on their fat ass's and watch youtube and order RC stuff alllll day, oh yeah and host the races they have on their track....

For the most part they could care less if you buy something or not...
 
very true don't want to help at all and if you sound like you know what you are talking about they don't like it cause they can't fool you and they are the only big shop in the area
 
When I first picked up my Tmaxx a few years ago, I was also buying upgrades for it at the same time, and asked him if he carried the Integy shocks for the maxx cause they look hella nice. His reply was that he would not put such a shotty product in his hobby shop for anyone to buy, that they leaked and that the shafts bent easily. He also said that i would be better off upgrading the stock shocks with some better quality springs rather than throwing $120 or whatever the Integy shocks go for into the garbage. I was amazed! Most places would try to sell you whatever they could just to make a buck and he was advising against it. Needless to say, I now have the Traxxas big bores on the maxx and I am happy to be steered away from Integy!!!

after being around engines for 40 years. WD-40, is to thin for me. i use marvel mystery oil.
 
Your probably right, but point being that you can still use it. A true ARO would likely be even better.
