Hi, I have a project that is using a 540 27T brushed Austar electric motor, (was one a friend had in a parts bin) basically I would like to no if I could power this motor directly from a battery, as so far I can’t seem to get the motor to spin with a 9v battery (6aa battery’s Just as a test) although somthing does engage, but no spin. any help much appreciated

if it was in a parts bin, a screw might have made its way into the case and is jamming the motor, or grounding the brushes to stator. has happened to me before on a spare (luckily).
