Hey guys, I've always ran 20% nitro in all of my gas RC's, but when i bought my son his Revo, i went with 33% Traxxas fuel. This truck has been a tuners dream right out of the box....heat cycle break in as by Traxxas(on the 33%) and after break in, hardly any leaning to get it running prefectly.
My question is, will my decision to run the 33% cut the life of the stock mill or will it be no different that running 20% in it?
This is the first time I've used this Traxxas brand fuel and I like it a lot and it runs cooler than other brands that I've ran in the past...do you think this brand in 33% would be also good for med. block & big block mills too?

Thanks for any input you guys can give me, as I've said, always ran 20% nitro as standard.....whats the pros & cons of running higher % nitros.

Scott

from what iv heard might be wrong but the higher the % the less mill life you get.
pro. more power
con. less life

20 seems to be a middle ground.

ya might wanna try blue thunder gas
i started useing it.. and it rocks. i have 3 gallons of traxxas that I'm not gonna use. thinking of just buying a nitro boat and useing it in that lol..

the most i run is 30%..as long as you dont lean it out too much you'll be fine running that. Stay away from blue thunder though, there are much better fuels out there for the same price...

Thanks guys,
I've tuned his truck, but its still on the richer side..he has no need for a very leaned out truck, hes just bashing. Taxxas only makes 10%, 20% and 33%...thats why i went with the 33%.

I've used all the basic nitro fuels, Blue thunder, white lightning, Duratrax, hpi..ect.

Scott

I have never used Blue Thunder, but I have heard it works great for some mills and not so good for small blocks.

From what I understand and from what I've read the percentage does NOT effct your engine life. It only effects the margin of error in tuning. Basically the engine is more sensitive in tuning on higher nitro. But you get better power and cooler engine temps (? I think) with it. Everyone tells me to run %33 cause I will love it.

I think I will buy another 2.5r and run 33 when I mod it. !

:arrr:

Brent, Thanks for the input....This was the first time going higher than 20% nitro myself, Not sure if it was the fuel or what, but this truck broke in VERY easily and has been a dream to dial in and keep it tuned..even in our crazy up and down Ohio winter temps. this year. I can't remember off hand what his Revo's normal running temp was, but i do remember it is much lower than his pro.15 T-Maxx with 20% nitro...i'll ask him and find out..he'll know..lol.

Well we just went to our LHS and picked up my sons 2 nd gallon of 33% Top Fuel for his Revo today...went through one gal. from Dec 25 - Feb 11 and no issues so far.
I'm thinking of buying a Revo of my own so i can run with him(equally) as my Cen Genesis is not too friendly with the "rubbin and racin" as it tends to either roll or roll over his Revo..and he doesn't NOT think its as funny as I do:devious: :opps:

I will also run the 33% in it too....i was just curious if the 33% would run well in my Genesis .46 BB mill???

Scott

every fuel i've bought runs great in all my TRAXXAS vehicles. Traxxas seems to be the best at staying in tune right out of the box. My HPI Savage 25 is VERY tempermental. It run great yesterday and horrible today, with no weather change or settings changed.

ACtually my first RC was a jato in January and since the break-in period was done and i leaned it out some i have NOT touched anything since first week of jan. It starts everytime, runs great, holds 230-240degrees. I run it every day for at least 30min and then 2-3hours on weekends at local bmx track. Thats now goes the same for BOTH jatos i own and my revo.

I can only view your first link, 2nd is members only BS..

Yea Airplane fuels suck in r/c cars & trucks..higher oil content makes for sluggish responces and a whole lotta mess as the oil is spit all over your car/truck out of the exhaust.

I've always used 20% as standard and this is the first time using the 33%....I'm sold on the stuff and have since changed my Genesis LE .46 mill over to this stuff...HOLLY COW..the difference is day and night and i can keep it a little on the rich side to keep the mill cool..but still awesome responce and power. I will be buying a 2.5R 4-Tec & Revo 3.3 soon and will break then in and run them strictly on TRX 33% fuel too.
I will also be switching my 1/8 buggy over to this 33% fuel on the next piston/sleeve job this summer.
