3.3 tuning issue

Hey guys, got another problem I could use your help with. So I took my buddy's 3.3 apart and sent it to ray to be reconditioned, I got it back and sealed it up and put it back together.Now I got fuel pouring out the exhaust and can not get any power out of it unless I lean it out lALOT. I was at like 1.5 turns out and it was still throw in smoke but would get quite hot.it runs OK and I do have the lsn real close but can't figure out what's going on. Oh and I started with a brand new block and bearings also. Any ideas?

is the conrod in the right way ,ages ago I rebuilt a 3.3 that split the block and had similar issues I would get fuel spraying out the carb and it was impossible to tune also.

Or maybe the piston is in backwards. The cut out in the skirt of the piston faces the carburetor. The oil hole in the connecting rod also faces towards the carb.

Thanks for the help guys, this is my 5th motor I have built in the last 2 weeks and all are running great. I didn't know the whole story, it seems the motor started doing that at the end of last year so I put 2+2 together and figured it had something to do with the carb. I pulled the carb and put a piece of fuel line on it and blew through it while plugging the top and bottom. All was good until I pulled the barrel out as it would be full throttle and the air just poured out of it. I pieced another carb together, sealed it and now she runs perfect! Again thanks for the ideas guys, although I do know how to build the motors everyone makes mistakes.
