I'm a noob to the RC truggy thing, I'm in the market for a new truggy but I'm having a problem deciding which to purchase
These are the one's that have sparked my interest so far

Traxxas Nitro Rustler - but it's 2wd
Talon NX 4WD GP RTR - and it's 4wd
Team Associated GT2 RS 2WD Truck - another 2wd
2 Speed Himoto PYTHON XV3 Off-Road Buggy w/18 Japan Engine -4wd but what is this " Japan Engine"?!?!

I guess you can tell by now I'm looking in the $300.00 range
Also I'm a bit confused about sizes, is there any advantages to 1:8 over 1:10

1/8 scale is much more useable, more ground clearance, generally more dependable.
2wd trucks and cars can be harder to drive due to spinning out easily.
Nothing is as fun as a 4wd monster truck or buggy.

I had this buggy and loved it. Fast as hell.

Hope that helps.

pearsonally i would take 4wd if your not that good at driving them cause they are alot easier to handle but if your some what good at driving i like a 2wd cause i love the feeling of dumping it in the corner real fast hitting the brakes quik and drifting it around the courner i find this way i get alot better acceleration out of the corners cause the engine is already wound up in the higher rpm's when you pull it out of the slide and hit the strait....i find this uses lots of tires though lol

I agree with BMiller. An OFNA buggy is a great starter vehicle for the amount of $$ in question.

We already have a Savage X so I would like to run with it, probably 75% dirt/grass 25% road and probably 0% track.

Since you really like truggies have you looked into the HPI Nitro Firestorm? Two wheel drive at $260...

Or the HPI RS4 MT2 for four wheel drive at $330...

You say you already have a Savage X. It kinda sounds like you want something different? Something that maybe handles better when you want to take it to the pavement but can still get around in dirt/grass?

The HPI MT2 is a good all around vehicle. There really aren't any good competitiors to it out on the market so it's sort of in a class by itself.

An OFNA buggy is still a good choice as well IMO.
