I bought a Hyper 8 port that did not include the clutch nut. I bought the Ofna nut & installed a Great Assemblies flywheel.
This one...
After tightening down the nut, there was about an 1/8th inch of threads showing. When I put the clutchbell on, it doesn't slide all the way back to cover the shoes... and, there is about an 1/8th inch of play in front of the cb where the E-clip snaps in...
Am I missing something ??? Wrong nut ?? Is there a different flywheel (thicker) that I should be using ??? HELP....

Here's a pic with the cb all the way on.......

I'm wonderring if the clutch nut is the problem. Maybe the Thunder Tiger would fit the way you need it to. (mine did) but thats on the Picco .26.

Would it be possible that you need to cut the shaft (just the threaded part)

OK, heres the deal... See how the threads are showing past the clutch nut. The bearing in the cb stops at these threads, not allowing the cb to go all the way back.

The clutch nut I bought, is an XTM .21 conversion nut, not Ofna... DAMN
XTM Nut

The tapered cone is there. What kind of spacer do I need ??
Where might I find one ?? Any help with this mass is greatly appreciated...
I should've just bought a Savage.... DAMN lol

Before you go putting in a spacer, bolt the engine up with the tranny and spur gear installed. This way you know if it in fact needs to be out that far. I'm guessing it shouldnt be. But I'm guessing.

We make a spacer for our .21 conversion Cyber-maxx kit. It is not-coincidentally about 1/8" long, and fits perfectly on the Hyper 21 8port - I have it on my own truck! Go to rc-solutions.com and email me your phone number, or PM me now.

scottm - Thanks for taking the time to give me a call about the spacer... I'll look forward to hearing from ya....

Christian - I was looking at the Ofna Flywheels, they're definately thicker than my GA flywheel... I would think thats the problem I'm having... So much for breakin her in this weekend....lol

I'm using the RC-Solutions spacer and it fits perfectly.
You could use washers/shims behind the flywheel as well but the spacer is better.

its allways the little poop that will get ya!

It's odd. The Picco didn't come with a clutch nut. The Ofna 3-shoe brake kit and flywheel didn't come with a clutch nut.

The hardcore .21 conversion kit had a clutch nut...

ImB? Is that the stock clutch and flywheel you've mounted?

No, its not stock. The first post of this thread has a link to the flywheel/clutch setup. Its a GA clutch assembly..

duh... Sorry ImB,

It looks like their claim here:

"This kit will bolt right on to your .15-.21 motor and use your existing clutch bells from stock T-Maxx "

isn't entirely accurate.

Yeah, tell me about it... After E-mailing GA about my problem, he wrote back:

"When you upgrade to a .21 you have to put a spacer behind the clutch.
Robin from UE sells them.
Call mike from Hobby Shop NJ and I think he has them for sale too. I don't stock them. But I use them on my .21's too
"
Thanks for letting me know....

Fortunately for me, Scottm over at RC-Solutions read my post & was able to hook me up with a clutchnut/spacer kit that comes with the CyberMaxx kit. This allows you to run your stock flywheel/clutch assembly... Thanks again Scott...

just tore up my 2.5 any suggestions on a .21 con kit and engine any advise will be appreciated

This explains my problem. I bought a big block clutch kit and a stock small block bell.

Hardcore Racing or Unlimited Engineering. Click on my sig for a link to both. ImB's Hyper 8-port is popular. I bought a Picco Outlaw, also popular.
