I'm sitting here (trying) to put the flywheel, shoes, cb on my 2.5R. Having never done this before because my .15 pro had it already installed. I'm a little confused about the cone, Is it supposed to slide all the way down and be touching the engine. Because it seems to only want to go so far and then get hung up on the threading on the shaft. I'm putting the cone on with the bigger side towards the engine. I just don't want to force it on there and screw up the threading doing so. I would like to use this 2.5R at least once before I ruin it.

Anything else I should know about getting the cone, flywheel, shoes and cb on?

I have taken a small flat head and pryed the slot on cone open just a tad to get it past threads and onto shaft just shy of touching the bearing. Install in this order. Cone, flywheel, nut, shoes and spring, then bell washers and clip or bolt. Whichever it uses. I believe the 2.5r uses a c clip on shaft end.

Ok, I figured that's why they had that split in the cone. I just don't want to break anything. At one point I had to replace the shoes on the .15 pro. I remember putting the spring around the shoes before installing it onto the shaft. And yes, it is a c clip. Thank you for your help!

Not a problem just dont try prying it all the way open or anything. You wont need much effort at all. Good luck with your new engine and have fun!

Wait a second, I got everything installed and I just noticed the end of the shaft is just open/hollow. and I can see threading on the inside of it. Am I missing something or is it supposed to be open like that?

The crank is threaded. You can use either the e-clip or a 3mm screw.

Gotcha. Thanks Snook.

I gotta say, just seeing the 2.5R with everything installed on it is getting me real excited to run it. Can I expect wheelies with my Tmaxx?

With the short chassis you should get a few wheelies with 2.5/r and stock gearing.

Nice! I really do want an engine to be able to toss my maxx around like a rag doll. But I don't think the 2.5R will be able to do that as much as I would like. I'm sure down the road I'll be upgrading again and putting the 2.5R in my pede.

I have been looking a little and the picco .26 (or maybe .28) is looking pretty good. But I really don't feel like doing a complete overhaul of the Tmaxx just yet.

Pretty short on funds at the moment. Plus, us commerical fisherman get slammed with taxes... I was told to expect to pay a third of what I made fishing.
