Yes you can run 2s lipo on the brushless 1/16 e-revo.
You can also run dual 2s lipos only with the traxxas parrallel connector, this goes the same for 3s lipos! again only with the parallel connector.
do not run you 2s lipos in series this creates 4s and that's bad for the 1/16 e-revos ESC. One member got to 14 mins before he cooked the ESC with 4s lipo
^^ the last statement holds true for 3s lipos as well!, as it creates 6s^^

Yes it can run on 2s the brushed motor too. Far as I know it will not handle 4s.

if you decide to run 4s, you need to change to nimh mode so it doesn't cut the lipo power.
if you are going to do this i suggest you buy a hobbyking esc to do it with, as you will damage your stock esc. also you motor might get a bit hot...
oh and you will most definitely destroy your rear diff gears
